To my view, war against terrorism is not something that can succeed, instead it will bring more animosity and inbalances between Muslim Umma and european countries more especially united state/britain. To the Muslims this is not war agains anybody other than Muslims generally. Do not decieve yourself beleiving that Muslims agrees that america is waging war against so-called terrorism. That is why in most Muslim countries, americans a viewd as enermies. They are being targetted in many Muslim countries.
The reason why I say that i am in doubt whether war against terrorism could succeed is that: This intention bring up new terrorist groups alover the world. Imagine you are among Iraqis that parents, son, doughter, brother was killed brutally by invaders (americans) how will you feel, will you forgive them? They said they want to free you, is this a freedom, while hundred of thousands of your countrymen are killed, your houses destroyed brutally, and your inmates are being tortured.

US will never succeed. Like it`s needless saying that we can prevent the bad efffects of globalization.
World terrorism is quite a complex problem nowadays. And of course it encompasses not only anti-US movements in the Third World Countries, but also the inner terrorism in developed ones.
Let`s take Britain, for example. A lot have been said about the origin of the sucide bombers in London Underground. And very important point is that they were Britts. Immigrants, but brits.Brits in their style, manners, views.
Terrorism is not just muslim affair t all. It`s wrong statement made up only to create an enemy, which will unite a nation. I think government easily uses this tactic:we need a "small victirious war".
But the origins of the terrorism lay deep inside the structure of the society. It is probably us, who create reall terrorists. Us and people we elect. You are absolutely right about iranian family hatred with America. I think you may be also interested in the book "Why world hates America?" (unfortunattely, I have forgotten the author).
Do you remembtr Huntington`s "Clashes of civilizations"? Don`t you find it somehow coincides with today situation?

Yup! It would go a lot faster if we were using the same rules of engagement as the terrorists. We fight by international rules and we take a lot of criticism around the world whenever we stray from the rules. The terrorists cut off heads, torture, kill innocent civilians, and do not follow any rules -- without any world criticism. If we were able to fight by the enemy's rules (or lack of rules) it would be over by now.
Most of the world is worried that we have the power to turn the sands of Iraq or Iran into a giant sheet of glass and that we will not exercise restraint and good judgment. They are also, perhaps, a bit jealous of our standard of living and freedom. Their constant criticism and volleys of hatred make our wussie politicians reluctant to use all the power that we have to end the war quickly. So we are forced by public opinion to fight with both hands tied behind our back, which results in more good soldier's deaths.

The war is pointless, you cannot declare war on terrorism.. since for every terrorist you kill another takes his place.
Also one man's terrorist is another one's freedome fighter.
I view today's war as a modern day Vietnam war without Napalm and stuff like that (thank god). But the principles are still the same. A well equiped army in a foreign country against a guerilla army in their home country. Guerillas will win since they use the cities to their advantage. Every day US soldiers die, this won't stop I think.

We can not win with current policies, and it is doubtful that we will ever win now. We have created many many more terrorists then were around before 9-11, and we have given an entire generation of recruits to factions like Al Qaeda.
Your analysis is spot on, and unfortunately people will just believe what their party tells them to believe without any critical thought. It is sad and deplorable to live life this way, yet so many americans do so.

The war on terror is pointless, it will be never ending. As long as there are oppressors and the oppressed there will be terror and terrorism. Now they’re trying to make us believe we can win a war that by definition terror could pop up anywhere at any time… it’s pointless, they just used it as an excuses for their Reichstag Fire.

Real simple. Capture about one hundred terrorist. Tie them up and execute 99 of them using bullets covered in pigs blood. Let the last one go. Anyone who calls themself muslim will stop any and all terrorist attacks for fear of losing their paradise, virgins, and what not. Everyone left fighting the "Holy War" are just non-religious common thugs. Deal with whats left accordingly without fear of suicide bombers because no Atheist will commit suicide.

Will the US succeed on the war against terrorism? C'mon, didn't they succeed in "the war on drugs" back in the 80s?

You can't win a war on terrorism because war is terrorism. The only way to stop it is to fight injustice, which is the root cause behind it all.
