I believe the suggested time is no more than one hour for regular milk. The longer it sits out before being returned to the refrigerator and the greater the number of times that happens will shorten the time that the milk will keep fresh.

Formula milk should not be left out of the fridge at room temperature for longer than it takes to feed your baby - about one hour -- due to the risk of contamination from bacteria in the air.

If the milk is still cold by the time you get home, you can keep it out as long as about 1 1/2 hrs.

My son often has milk in his sippy cup when we go places. After about an hour and a half, the milk starts to get warm and old. If you have it in direct sunlight, it will sour faster. If in the shade, it will stay fresh a big longer...but not much, unless you like the taste of warm milk.

I wouldn't go more than an hour or two.

Otherwise, label it buttermilk and put it back in tehe fridge and use for baking.

I think it is only good for 2 hours. That's what they told me when my daughter was drinking bottles - after 2 hours at room temperature throw it away.
