Depends on the reason for the toothache. If the gum is irritated and swollen you might be able to get by with rinsing with something like Plax (to break up the plaque on your teeth), then brushing with a tartar control toothpaste, flossing really well around the tooth and then rinsing three or four times a day with a half and half solution of hydrogen peroxide and water. Peroxide is used to orally "debride" the gum.

If the pain is deep inside the tooth, you can try the same treatment, and perhaps some OraGel and ibuprofen for a while, but if you run a fever or it gets worse, you could have an infection in there that may not go away without an antibiotic. Dental problems can become serious if left untreated, so don't let it go for too long before you seek professional attention.

If you cannot afford a dentist, consider calling local dental schools (often attached to local colleges, even community colleges) because they usually offer very low cost dental care by students that is well-supervised by professors of dentistry. Services would be available through their "dental clinic."

Also consider your local health department and the dental services there if you have low income and no dental insurance.

Try calling either a dental college, or go to the emergency room at a hospital. They may have a dentist on call.

Never ever ever, let aspirin dissolve in your mouth when you have a toothache because most of the aspirin is going to end up on your gums and could give you an aspirin burn. Also, never ever put heat on a toothache. If there is an infection around the tooth, heat is going to do nothing but aggravate it more. Bacteria love heat, they thrive on it and putting any type of heat(hot pack or hot water) will only make the infection worse. Instead use cold packs in 15 minute intervals. You're going to need to have that tooth treated some kind of way because over the counter medications and ice packs are only masking the problem. Maybe a friend of family member can help you out with some of the costs of your dental visit.

Toothaches can not only be serious but deadly. A bad infection or abscess can ultimately kill you. A few months ago a truck driver was found dead in his truck, on the side of the highway, from a tooth abscess! Call every dentist in the book until you can convince one to either give you a payment plan, trade services or do the work for free. Otherwise go to emergency room. Unless its a private hospital they pretty much have to get you help.

Orajel, some pain meds, and start saving for the dentist. Only time I ever had a toothache I needed a root canal.

it's funny how the ability to afford dentistry increases with pain. your toothache must not be that bad yet. give it a few weeks and i'm sure it will hurt bad enough for you to afford to go to the dentist.

The Best thing 2 do is- apply for a medical card ,get your mum or dad or even yourself (depends on your age) to apply for one. You don't have 2 pay for a medical card, and if you have no money they will certantly give you the card. You can go to the doctor with the card too and regular checks to the dentist....
hope everything works out.

Tooth-ache is very bad. However I would suggest you to take few drops of clove oils on cotten and rub it around the pain area that will give relief. If the pain persist then go to Doc.
Secondly brush your tooth by snuff powder for a week and you will get desired result soon. All the best and good luck to you.

See DENTIST ASAP!
Ask about State health agency.

Toothaches are a sign that there may be more to worry about then just a little pain. The causes of toothache are several but the major causes are, dental cavity, a cracked tooth, exposed tooth root, gum disease, disease of the jaw joint or spasms of the muscles used for chewing. It is possible for the cause of a toothache to originate from an entirely different problem such as heart attack or angina but this is quite rare. It can be noted however that some patients suffering angina will show toothache or jaw pain as the only symptoms so it is always best to let your dentist or doctor evaluate you.

This is really bad for your tooth, but let an aspirin dissolve on the tooth. It kills the nerve or something. It's better to go to a dentist though

crush up some aspirin and dab some on the tooth. it's only a temporary remedy. if the pain is really bad you should go see a dentist. talk to them about making a payment plan to pay for their services.
