You can try self-treatment for three or four days and still have sinus pain, pressure, and stuffiness, you need to see a doctor to help clear up the infection and drain your sinuses. Otherwise, your sinuses could abscess into your eye, or worse, into your brain.
Here`s what you can try to unstuff, reduce pain and get the air flowing freely.
*Get all steamed up; humidity is the key to keeping the cilia (minute nasal hairs) working, the mucus flowing, and the sinuses drained. Hot showers / Lean over a pan full of steaming water, towel draped over your head / Cup your hands over the top of a mug of hot coffe, tea, or soup & sniff. Inhale the vapors.
*Running a cold-mist machine in your bedroom will keep your nasal and sinus passages from drying out.
*Bathe your nostrils daily; flush out stale nasal secretions, using a saline product or mixing 1 teaspoon of table salt w/ 2 cups warm water & a pinch of baking soda. Pour it into a shot glass, tilt your head back, close one nostril w/ thumb, and sniff the solution w/ open nostril. Then blow your nose gently. Repeat on the other side.
Better yet, look into buying a netti pot. (purchase health store) I love mine & its alot easier to use.
*Drinking extra liquids-- both hot & cold-- throughout the day. It`ll thin out the mucus. Sipping hot tea made w/ herbs such as fenugreek, fennel, anise, or sage may help move mucus even more.
*Blow one nostril at a time; will help prevent pressure buildup in the ears.
*Go ahead and sniffle; sniffling is a good way to frain the sinuses and escort stale secretions down the throat.
*Walk to clear your head; exercise may bring relief because it releases adrenaline, which constricts the blood vessels, theyby possibly reducing swelling in the sinuses.
*Press here for pain relief; rubbing your sore sinuses brings a fresh blood supply to the area and soothing relief. press your thumbs firmly on both sides of your nose and hold for 15 to 30 seconds. repeat.
*Wash away your pain; applying moist heat over tender sinuses, warm washcloth over your eyes and cheekbones and leave there til you feel the pain subside.
I know your pain , I suffer too. I`ve got a few nick-names cause of my constant sniffing & snotting..lol But on the bright side the cool-mist machine helps everyone in my household. And me using my netti pot brings great enjoyment to my children..lol Get one, serious!
Serious too, if you dont get cleared up on your own see an ENT (ears, nose& throat) doctor. You may need to take anantibiotic or undergo surgery to break up the blockage. It could also be a virus, allergies, or a sensitivity to medications such as birth control pills or aspirin.
How do you suppose You & I and 30 to 50 million other people get this stuffiness?..lol
Anywho, I hope you feel better & the info helped. Good Luck!

Go see an allergist/immunologist. If you have nasal polyps, use a solution made from just salt and water. Spray it up into your nasal passages to clean them out. Otherwise, if it isn't that bad, an allergist will prescribe some nasal spray that is non-evasive and very effective. If you don't want to spend the money on that, go get Claritin or some other over-the-counter allergy medicine.

With a sinus medicine from a store (Theraflu caplets work for me when I'm feeling crummy that way) or if really serious, go see a doctor.

Use clariton and a nasal spray daily. If you have allergies you just have to treat them, you cannot make them go away forever. Sorry!
