**1yr smoke free, go me!**
keep your hands busy!!!!!!! sewing, painting, gardening, puzzles....etc. anything you find entertaining.
just sitting there constantly thinking about it suxs!!
lost of GUM! or if ya don't like that, try lollipops.
join a support group..or on line chat support group for non-smokers.
my BIGGEST problem was most of my friends were smokers...so my social life suxed for about 6 months, cause i couldn't be around it.
hopefully your friends, out of common courtesy would not smoke in front of you, but you'll find some think its a joke, and taunt!
*nice huh*
anyways....
just keep reminding yourself WHY you wanted to quit in the first place.
lot of ppl will recommend the patch, or gum...i don't! it only puts MORE nicotine into your system...which is something you are trying to detox yourself from.
you get jumpy or jittery....twirl a pen...chew on a lollipop, or gum, go for a walk, call a friend and have them talk you back to "reality"
god nicotine fits can make you go mad, have a good friend always be there for you when you need a reminder about why you stopped smoking.
don't give up.....YOU'LL MAKE IT!!!

Keep busy to keep your mind off of it. Try joining a gym or picking up a hobby that you wanted to before, and now with the extra money you are saving you can afford. Do lots of yard work, and most of all do not take those nicotine patches or gums, its just another way to keep you addicted to the nicotine, you're just not inhaling it in the form of smoke.

Have you tried hypnosis? I heard that for some people it really works? Maybe join a support group....?????

I was lucky, I only smoked for about 3 years and one day decided it was disgusting and threw the cigs out the window and never wanted one since. Once you get over the craving you will probably hate the smell of it. It takes 21 days, I believe, for the nicotine to get out of your system. Any craving after that is a mental addiction, so keep that in mind.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!

I quit almost a year ago. The most difficult time was the first three weeks. Hard candy worked well for me. Also, I reduced my coffee intake during the day. Over the counter sleep aids worked well at night when the cravings were strong. Good luck, and hang in there! You'll save a lot of money, live longer, and maybe prevent someone from getting ill from second hand smoke.

I quit years ago, but I did it gradually. I cut down by 1/2 a cigarette a day until I was only smoking 1/2 a day, then I stopped that 1/2 cigarette. When I quit totally, I started chewing gum; lots and lots of gum! That was 12 years ago.

yes I am quitting as well,..and congratulations on making that decision first of all you won't regret it.It's good to ask God for help, pray to him that he would take some of that job you must endure away from you and help you on your path, second be occupied,go for 30 minute walks when you have the craving(the fresh air will fill up your longs and craving will go away within10-15 minute period),hace some toothpicks to chew on,have some candy to chew on,have a gum to chew on.
If you don't eant to gain waight walk a lot ,make a schedule to walk at least 30 minutes briskly everyday.Maybe you want to walk in early morning just before your job or evening or both. God Bless wish ya the best :)

My husband quit smoking about 3 weeks ago. His withdrawal symptoms were depression, irritation, insomnia, etc. He was on the patch and got off of it cuz it made him nauseous. The military gave him a really hectic, busy schedule recently so that took his mind off of smoking. Try chewing gum if it helps you. He sometimes smokes the Black and Mild cigars to help ease a little bit of his craving........

i quit about a month ago and was a miserable jerk for a couple of weeks. i used nicorette gum and a mild tranquilizer called Lorazepam 0.5 mg that my doctor prescribed for me. it really took the edge off and helped out with being moody. now that i have gotten over the worst i still have cravings but i keep busy and feel better than i have in years.

very best of luck

find something that you want really bad and save the money that u would have used on cigeretts and every time you want to buy some just say nope i want that (your thing here) that is how my aunt stopped and it worked 4 her i hope that it works 4 u. another thing that you could try is chewing gum or eating seeds instead of smoking i don't know but it might help.

Don't look at me. You chose to smoke. If you want to quit, suck it up and wait out the withdrawal. It WILL pass, but you have to pay a price for indulging in something addictive.
