Depends on the guy. I was never much of a socialite. A couple of girls I dated I would have said they were homely. Bad thing? Not really. They weren't lookers. Their beauty was the intelligence and caring they kept on the inside.

However, to someone who only cares about the exterior package.... well

Its the same as the answer if the girl asks "am I pretty as her". When the girl wants or needs the answer the girl probably does not want to know. Homely however should just mean ordinary, but if a guy uses such a word he probably doesn't want to tell the girl what he really thinks so don't hit the guy for it girls.

In a good way you are the type of a person who makes yoour guest feel at home. You are a good homekeeper and cute.

In a sarcastic way it means you are just be at home types not worth going out with.

Depends as to how it was told to you.

Homely means that you are not good looking.

If someone says your homely, then usually it means that no amount of hair style changes, or fashion changes, will make you look good. Usually cosmetic surgery for the face is the only way to remedy the problem.

It means she is lovable, cuddly, happy, good around the house, but probably not skinny or sexy.

It is something that a man who has been married for 35 years might like his wife to be, but a 21 year old doesn't want his girlfriend to be.

Farmer's wife, rather than slag. Plain, but unprotentious.

That's what someone called a woman that's very plain and borderline ugly. Often someone with poor fashion sense and may not wear makeup. Also, he could just be being nice and not just outright saying he thinks you are ugly.

Homely is another word for Ugly, so no, it's not a good thing. He said you were ugly, and not cute or pretty.
