If you stopped Christian holidays from being acknowledged you'd have to stop the holidays of all other religions. I don't see that happening in America since most people would find that infringing on their rights.

I don't know of any non-Christian groups who are trying to stop Christian holidays from being acknowledged--no matter what BIll Oh Really says.

Under current US laws that have been written with our Constitution in mind, the government is not permitted to promote one religion (or system of beliefs) over another. In a nation with freedom of religion, it is improper for a state-run organization to "celebrate" a religious holiday at the exclusion of other religions. So a non-Christian group is well within their rights as fellow citizens of the US to complain if a state-run organization is celebrating a Christian holiday. Now, if it is a non-government organization, then it is the discretion of the organization to pick/choose what they wish to do. So if a non-Christian group tries to stop you, or your organization, from celebrating a holiday, they are out-of-line.

Absolutely not! We live in a nation of tolerance. Although in general christian holidays are usually given more attention, other holidays are not ignored or frowned upon. Further than that, acknowledgement of these holidays goes back to the foundations of America, I am not saying that it is unAmerican not to observe Christmas, But it is a time of year that many early Americans observed and later on, as our country progressed people began to fill it with their own traditions. "Stopping" these traditions in my opinion not only interups years of traditions people look forward to and find comfort in both christian and non christian, but it also says that we as a nation are beginning to turn our back on our roots.

Acknowledged by who? Can anyone prevent me from what I choose to acknowledge? What you really want to know is should society at large silence religious expression right? I'm not sure why not ask the failed socialists of the past?

no that again is an example of the "tolerance" crowd not being tolerant at all! they tell christians who get "offended" by negative tv or movies because of the content (Sex violence or profanity) to turn the channel but the same ones saying that wont practice what they preach their advise aint good enough for them they hear "preaching" that offends them or Holidays celebrating traditional family values and it offends them why cant they "turn the channel" or ignore it? cause their freakin hypocrites who only want their world view known and celebrated

No, but I do think it is time to insist that our own holidays be acknowledged. I would happily work over the xian xmas period if I were given time off for, say... Beltaine & Samhain.

Most "christian holidays' don't even have a Christain background. Maybe do a little research on it.
