No it isn't.
The tithing or tenth came from levitacal law.
A pastor or priest is not a levitacal priest.
We of the new testament are not under the levitiacal law.
We have a new High Priest, Jesus Christ. ( not of levi )
If the old was good enough why did we need a new covenant?
When the new came it made the old obsolite.
Heb 8:13 When He said, "A new covenant," He has made the first obsolete. But whatever is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to disappear.
The church today is teaching what it should not do.
The giving should come from your own decision. Not by compulsion. 2 Cor 9:7 Let each one do just as he has purposed in his heart; not grudgingly or under compulsion; for God loves a cheerful giver.
See the references below.
I hope that this clears up your thoughts on the matter.
We are of the New testament, not the old.
OLAY!

This is a good question. Not all Christians do the will of God. You are absolutely right 100 percent I agree. The money was suppose to be spent on Charity. But look at it this way. If we give with the right intentions we are doing Gods will. If the church takes money for the wrong intentions they will answer to God. If you want to help support your pastor it will still be beneficial. The pastor will answer to God if he uses the church money and don't visit the sick or pay the church bills on time. I believe a pastor is a servant of God. I believe he should have time to visit with the sick and be a full time pastor. If he is actually visiting the sick he should have a part time salary. But I also believe he will not depend on the church for his full salary unless his job requires this.

Wow, you are on the right track. God orginally intended the tithe (10%) to go to help people. Today, I can't see that it's always used in the correct way - some ministers hoard it, etc.
But, to show you what the Bible says about it...
When the children of Israel were organized by God in the wilderness and the land of Israel, they all had land, farms, etc except one tribe, the Levites. Those Levites were to spend their time ministering in the temple and serving the people - helping the poor, being the pastors, etc. They weren't given land for farming, but were supported by the tithe of the other Israelites. So, that tithe went directly to supporting the ministry, which in turn was to go directly to helping other people.
The New Testament also talks about giving to God, and many churches today are set up where the tithe is evenly distributed to support gospel workers and missionaries who are sincerely doing God's work in serving humanity. I believe that if your money is going to support other people hearing about God, it is serving God's original purpose for it.

As far as i know and read, you have to give a 10th of all your earnings!! Everything that is an 'Income' to you. Many people who are going to church, do give it each month to the church. Most people do give it literately during the month or so to other people to help them. like buying groceries for the poor etc. It's actually your money and you can decide if you really want to give it to the church or donate the money

A tenth [oa a TITHE] is mentioned several times in the Bible:-
Leviticus 27:30
" 'A tithe of everything from the land, whether grain from the soil or fruit from the trees, belongs to the LORD; it is holy to the LORD.
Leviticus 27:29-31 (in Context) Leviticus 27
Leviticus 27:31
If a man redeems any of his tithe, he must add a fifth of the value to it.
Leviticus 27:30-32 (in Context) Leviticus 27
Leviticus 27:32
The entire tithe of the herd and flock—every tenth animal that passes under the shepherd's rod—will be holy to the LORD.
Leviticus 27:31-33 (in Context) Leviticus 27
Numbers 18:21
"I give to the Levites all the tithes in Israel as their inheritance in return for the work they do while serving at the Tent of Meeting.
Numbers 18:20-22 (in Context) Numbers 18
Numbers 18:24
Instead, I give to the Levites as their inheritance the tithes that the Israelites present as an offering to the LORD. That is why I said concerning them: 'They will have no inheritance among the Israelites.' "
Numbers 18:23-25 (in Context) Numbers 18
Numbers 18:26
"Speak to the Levites and say to them: 'When you receive from the Israelites the tithe I give you as your inheritance, you must present a tenth of that tithe as the LORD's offering.
Numbers 18:25-27 (in Context) Numbers 18
Numbers 18:28
In this way you also will present an offering to the LORD from all the tithes you receive from the Israelites. From these tithes you must give the LORD's portion to Aaron the priest.
Numbers 18:27-29 (in Context) Numbers 18
Deuteronomy 12:6
there bring your burnt offerings and sacrifices, your tithes and special gifts, what you have vowed to give and your freewill offerings, and the firstborn of your herds and flocks.
Deuteronomy 12:5-7 (in Context) Deuteronomy 12
Deuteronomy 12:11
Then to the place the LORD your God will choose as a dwelling for his Name—there you are to bring everything I command you: your burnt offerings and sacrifices, your tithes and special gifts, and all the choice possessions you have vowed to the LORD.
Deuteronomy 12:10-12 (in Context) Deuteronomy 12
Deuteronomy 12:17
You must not eat in your own towns the tithe of your grain and new wine and oil, or the firstborn of your herds and flocks, or whatever you have vowed to give, or your freewill offerings or special gifts.
Deuteronomy 12:16-18 (in Context) Deuteronomy 12

It's not to the church parse, it's more to God. It's difficult to explain to people that don't do it but God always returns to us the amounts we tithe (10%) I've been blessed multiple times for my financial sacrifice, and hey the governments not giving the church any money so the congregation has to support i, it's also a reminder of where our true treasure is (in heaven). It doesn't secure our salvation no matter how much we give, we're still going to go to heaven no matter what amount is given.

It is called tithing. All church members should give to the church. This is how the church's are kept up and maintained. It also allows the church to help members and others in need of financial help. It does not mean you have to give 10%. The lord understands if you don't have it and he would not see you as a bad person if you don't give it because any little bit helps.

Yes it does. I give my 10% to my local church (who does use it to help people by the way, for one thing through our food distribution program), and give more to organizations that help Christians suffering in other parts of the world. The Bible has something to say that everyone finds inconvenient, the important thing to do is figure out whether or not it's telling the truth... If it is, we need to trust in God enough to listen to him even when we don't like what he's saying.

Dear Lizzie,
I do not know if know this but the church age ended in 1988. What this means is that the Holy Ghost is no longer working in any local congregation. The Lord has instructed those that are true believers to come out (Revelation 18:4)... For more info check out this website: www.familyradio.com.

Yes, the bible mentions tithe (the 10% of your earnings) but I don't think it necesarily means you have to give it to your church. Most people support their respective churches and believe they will use the money to help others. However, i'm sure there's no harm in donating directly to a charity of your choice.
