my first suggestion would be to have your cat FIXED!! it usually calms them down a bit.
second...she might just be bored. cats still have a VERY high pray drive, they like to "hunt" even if it happens to be your toes, legs, arm....what-have-you.
a really good quality cat condo...with TONS of things to keep her busy will give her something to do.
here is a link to a site that has some good condos....

She could be in heat yes. I find that when one of my cats is grouchy, it usually means that she is already pregnant! When they are in heat, they tend to be more vocal and roll around on the carpet with their bums stuck up in the air! I am not too sure how long it lasts, maybe between 4 to 7 days.

My cat used to be mean, she was called demon cat. We don't know why
She disappeared for three weeks and came back changed. We think she was abducted by a cult, and de-programmed.
She is still mean at times
Maybe she is sick, pregnant.
When they are in heat they yowl a lot and carry on wanting to go out all the time.

The possibilities are endless as to why a cat is mean. My advice to you is to take her to the vet. She needs to have a good exam. There may be some underlying physical problem that you are unaware of.

Cats are one of many animals God gave us to enjoy their love and companionship and their loyal friendship as well.

Good luck and I hope I was some what helpful to you!

If your cat is not spayed, then you need to do the responsible thing and get her spayed. If she is in heat, you would know!!! But, also, when they are in heat, its their normal animal instinct to want mate... So get her spayed, they live longer healthier lives!
