Ever heard physicist talk about tachyons.
Well if he were god would he not be "beyond" all matter.
If He needed a light he would not be God would he......light would be God.

Remember, the bible states the Earth's existence prior to the creation description in Genesis 1. It is said that the Angels and Lucifer walked about the Earth prior to Lucifer's fall. God Made the earth formless and void because of the Fallen Angels but resurrects it to set the stage of Human Existence (Genesis 1).

Here is an example taken from Jer 4:23 - 28. God's wrath makes it formless and void.

Jer 4:23 I looked on the earth, and behold, {it was} formless and void; And to the heavens, and they had no light.
Jer 4:24 I looked on the mountains, and behold, they were quaking, And all the hills moved to and fro.
Jer 4:25 I looked, and behold, there was no man, And all the birds of the heavens had fled.
Jer 4:26 I looked, and behold, the fruitful land was a wilderness, And all its cities were pulled down Before the LORD, before His fierce anger.
Jer 4:27 For thus says the LORD, "The whole land shall be a desolation, Yet I will not execute a complete destruction.
Jer 4:28 "For this the earth shall mourn And the heavens above be dark, Because I have spoken, I have purposed, And I will not change My mind, nor will I turn from it."

1) The time between the creation of Earth and the creation of light represents the time between the fall of man and the comming of Christ.

2) The light created was for the physical. God is spiritual. Neither light nor darkness have an effect on HIM.

Psalms 139:
11 If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me.
12 Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee .

Great question, though.

Delightful cynicism! There was a big dispute with the lighting creator labor forces, something to do with illegal labor. God, being the all-knowing, all-seeing, project manager, quickly shifted gears and completed the earth first. IN THE DARK! By adapting to the changes in the workplace, God was able to keep the project on schedule and below budget. God was later downsized by the universe after it contracted.

I guess you didn't read Genesis 1. God created light first and he didn't create a mistake we made the mistake by following Satan, remember free will God made everything perfect but the only way for sin to occur we had to have free will and he wouldn't be a loving God if he didn't allow free will.

God created Sun first and the Earth is only a chip of it later cooled. Without sunlight there can be no life on the Earth.

God does not make mistakes. Science shows us that the material existence of earth and the universe, requires the many things it contains...light and dark being one of these requirements.

That light was the molecules and atoms that
he would use to form his creation.I don't think
that it was a light like the sun puts off or candle
does. It is kinda like cooking a cake first you need the ingredients then you mix the cake.I believe that is what God did in creation.

I do not believe that "God" did create the earth.
I believe in the big bang theory & that we evolved from a germ in the midst of the chaos.
I also believe that we could not possibly be the only planet in the universe with supposedly intelligent life on it.
