Bill's answer was great especially the book recommendation.

I just wanted the links easier to follow.

Be careful in your approach to your friend as Scientologists tend to be very 'touchy' to criticism, infact they are downright hostile to it. Your friend could 'disconnect' from you and never speak to you again. Read the websites, read the books available on Clambake.

Here is the link for the book list:

You can read most of the books listed from this website as they have been allowed to by the authors.

Inside Scientology by By Robert Kaufman & The Road to Xenu by Margery Wakefield are 2 texts you can read available from the link above to learn about life in scientology and why people pay the money they do. Here they are for easier access:

Join Operation Clambake Message Board (OCMB) if you want more support. Many at OCMB are either ex-scientologists or people who have family and/or friends in the Church of Scientology.

And if she does find out about the dangers they can try for their money back with these guys support:

It is a cult. They lie to people to get them in. They indoctrinate people with their beliefs. Someone is often going through a transitory time in their life and then group comes along, tells them what they want to hear and gives them conditional love as long as they parrot what they say and do what they want. It is constant indoctrination. It is an attempt to replace the former personality with a new one. I would read up a lot more on this and try and get your friend out if you can.

Here are two sites that tell the truth about this terrible religion. Also, try reading combatting cult mind corntrol by Steven Hassan.

Because it's a business that has nothing to do next to science and is a quasi religion, that changes behaviors on its clients.

People in search of a belief have the tendency to fall into that due to lack of faith, or knowledge.

It shows how there's a lot of dumb people in this world. Why would you pay to have a religion or a belief system? That is one of the stupidest thing I've heard.

It's a cult. They convice people that by joining they will have a better life, then they try and take your money. Money gives them power, that is what they want.
