The commandment reads really as thou shalt not murder. Anyways, the judgement that was passed down by God is clear and cut, he is the judge and whatever means he uses to pass out judgement his is will. If someone else had come and say do it you shouldn't. However, you could also look at the point where he says also that we should not love the world or the things of the world and he also said that he loves the world that he gave his only begotten son. We are not God and thus he knows best and his reasons are perfect. If God loves the world that is fine because he made it, we didn't and thus since it is corrupted now he says we should not love it.

The Lord doesn't have to abide to any laws thats for us to keep. He can do whatever the hell he wants. And If they were told to kill by God then it was a order and probably for a good reason. And its not "thou shalt not kill" its actually "thou shalt not murder".

I don't believe in this stuff, but I think I know the answer. The English version of the bible has the commandment "thou shall not kill" However, older bibles state "thou shall not murder". There is a definite distinction between murdering and killing.
