On the basis of the information given I would expect the person to receive a Community Order. This would be likely to include supervision (12 months or more), unpaid work (150 hours or more) and the Drink Impaired Drivers Programme. If the Common Assault was domestic violence, a programme could be included, but prison would also become a more viable option.

you need to specify further details for a clear answer, for example, are these charges on the same citation or complaint or are the being dealt with under seperate proceedings, what countries' legal system are you under, what are previous convictions, how old are you, what reports have been called for in light of your deferred sentence etc. too many variables at present to give you a clear answer
