I am trying to stay away from video games and move towards something more active. He got a new bike and all that goes with it from his mom so that's out. What else is there?

books and my boys still like legos (not the little kind, the big sets that have like 1000 pieces). I have also found that the Smithsonian makes a line of educational toys that look (and are) cool. A musical instrument and lessons or if you play even better - father/son time. For more active stuff a soccer ball and net. Basketball and hoop. Pass to the swimming pool. Matching rollerblades. OH OH he'll like this. An air pellet gun. The kids on my street love this and it is reasonable priced at Walmart. They go out and play "war" all day. The airsoft gun is pretty harmless, in case you are wondering, but i wouldn't want a direct eye hit. Good luck, it only gets hard to find great gifts (that aren't video games) after this!!!

A motor scooter. My 11 yr old has been begging me for one but theyre a little costly. (around $250-$300) He's never offended by cash either. That way, he can get what he wants.

well you can get him skate's or a skateboard. Or you could stick to the classics and get him sports stuff. football. tennis balls and racket. baseball and bat, volleyball and net. it all depends on what he likes to do. if he's really into his new bike you can buy things for it. like a more comfortable seat, a cool helmet, pegs, ect.
