As long as the puppy weights more than 2 lbs. you can use a capstar pill. They run about $4 from a vet. This kills all fleas within about 30 min. This product only works for about 24 hours, but its a great start. Most good quality flea meds say 8 weeks or older. Flea collars dont work. There is nothing that you can do to prevent fleas since the puppy is to young. If the puppy is in the house, you have fleas in the house. I like a product called Ectyokill. Whatever you use in the house must be done now and again in two weeks to get the entire life cycle of the flea.

Never use a flea and tick product on a 3 week old puppy unless you want to kill the puppy!!!! Look up a natural flea spray on the internet....I think the directions are: "Dilute 1/2 vinegar and 1/2 water and spray the puppy and it's bedding". Fleas don't like the vinegar.
Flea collars don't work, don't waste your money, besides, you could poison the puppy if it is not put on correctly!
ALL WAYS ASK A VET FIRST!!!!

First brush him with a flea comb you can get at pet supply store. Then give him a bath with Cloud Nine herbal shampoo for cats and dogs. Its all natural and has no pesticides that will hurt your puppy. Its smells great too. To prevent flea from getting on him again put a few drops of Cloud Nine herbal dip on his collar. Fleas dont like the strong smells of lavander, rosemary, mint, tea tree oil, etc. These are natural repellents. I found these products at Whole Foods.

" Many of the flea control products that are safe on adult dogs are not safe for puppies less than four months of age. Fleas do not stay on your puppy all the time. Occasionally, they will jump off and seek another host, and flea eggs are laid off your dog. Therefore, it is important to kill fleas on your new puppy before they can become established in your house. A flea comb will help isolate any adult fleas your puppy may have. The once-a-month oral flea pill "Program®" prevents flea infestation by sterilizing the fleas and preventing their eggs from hatching. "

As far as fleas go, the only stuff I've found that works is Advantage, which you have to buy from the vet. And the dosage is determined by how many pounds the animal is.

I'd take the puppy to the vet and have them frontline the puppy...if those fleas get out of hand, you'll have to flea bomb the house and everything, it sucks...if you use store bought products you could harm your animal...that's what a vet told me

There is a product called De Flea that you can get from PetCo that can be used on young puiies, young kittens, and lactating female animals. It's expensive, but it's worth the investment.
