I definitely use the "check-point" game. I also listen to music, to keep my mind of the jogging. And if I'm feeling lazy, I'll take the longer route instead of doing an easier one twice so I'll be forced to run. (Because I hate walking; I don't like people to see me all sweaty for very long.)

I do the same thing as you do. I just keep giving myself a goal and each time I reach it I extend it even further until I finnish.
I also look down or something when I'm running to see how far I can get without noticing

I usually jog or run to my mp3 player. So when I do start to struggle I make myself run until the song is over, or I'll tell myself I want to hear another song and keep going. I try not to let myself give up until a song is over.

When running up a hill I to the check point thing, but also I think "If I stop running, I'm going to get a slower time, and the girls behind me are going to beat me, I have more will power than them" and keep running.

Hmm when I'm walking/running or just generally exercising I usually think about what I'll post next in one of my roleplaying games online. or I'll think about someone I think is really hot and just let my mind drift. Best of all is when ya have someone with you to talk with and like debate. God does that eat up time!

I stare at my feet and turn my head completely off. Everyone says thats a bad idea because you'll feel like you're not getting anywhere. But it works great for me. Every time i look up i've made great progress.

I tell myself to keep going even though it hurts, I control my breathing, and at the last block, I run faster.... it works and feels good after. Not to mention my fiance jogs with me and keeps me motivated.

I know one girl that counts....steps up to thirty, then sets of step sets...again up to thirty...then begins again.
I do math...how fast the miles are, what pace over the next quarter to save X% before I finish the next mile...stuff like that.
I also think about people...stuff going on in my life....
