stress can affect every body system, physically and emotionally. in fact, one of the symptoms of depression is nonspecific physical pain or complaints. with gall stones, stress can cause increased pain because it increases muscle tension. in turn, the bile ducts also become more tense and stones can't pass through. when you are stressed you also have decreased tolerance to pain, so it is really a negative feedback response.
try warm baths, aromatherapy, medical massage, warm teas, candles, prayer or meditation to help reduce stress. avoid your exposure to people, places and things that stress you out. stay away from fatty, greasy foods. limit dairy products. take prescribed pain medicine as needed. discuss with your doctor if it may be necessary to surgically remove the stones or the gall bladder. and get plenty of rest.

Gallstones: can stress add to the problem?
Stress can hurt us emotionally, but can stress make us feel worse physically, specifically a gallstone?
