Different children like differnt things. I had more success with the toilet seat cover than I did with the potty. But I know people who's children loved the potty. Your best bet is to try each out and see how your child responds to it.

I am a child care provider and have potty trained over 50 kids. I definitely prefer the seat cover. It travels easier and being able to flush right away instead of dumping out the potty seat is a plus. The only reason I would use a potty chair would be if a child was afraid of sitting on the toilet, which might be a sign the child is not ready. Good luck! My dd was potty trained at 20 months, but my ds was three years old before he decided to comply- there is a wide range of normal here!

You can buy a combo unit at Walmart and let him do whatever is comfortable for him. It also doubles as a step stool to get up on the potty. Worked great for my son. It was hard for him to coordinate getting up on the toilet at first and the potty chair prevented accidents from spending too long trying to coordinate pants around the ankles with climbing. Later the seat part on the toilet worked great when he got the hang of telling when he had to go more in advance.

You should use a toilet seat cover because when he really does get the hang of pottying using a potty chair, when it comes time for him to start doing it on his own, he will start to look for the potty chair and he won't want to go untill he gets it because that is what he will beuse to because that is what he was trainned on.

My daugher is 2 and 4 months and we went for potty chair. She has one in both bathrooms and they are exactly the same, to avoid the "i want to go on the blue one" scenario! She finds normal potties a bit too low down, and can quite comfortably sit on her potty chair in the lounge! She has toilet seats too, but isn't that impressed to be honest. I think she feels a bit scared!

I have a potty chair, that we bought for my daughter a couple of years ago, she completely trained. About a week ago, my 2 yr old son said he had to go potty, and was still in diapers, but he ripped off his diaper, ran into the bathroom, lifted the toilet seat like his daddy and peed like a big boy. I was sooooo happy. The only time we have trouble is at night. He still wears diapers at night, but besides that, he is potty trained both with poop and pee. It's wonderful especially since we are having another in about 3 weeks. His daddy said there could only be one baby with diapers. And our son understood.

Well, my son is 2 /12 yrs old and I bought him a potty chair that he never and did not like to use. As soon as I bougt the toliet seat cover and he sat on it and he started going. I would suggest the potty toliet seat cover it makes them feel like a big boy and not so close to the ground. Make sure that you even praise him weather he goes or not.

My son didn't want to use anything. I let him watch me several times when I would go to the potty. And when i finished I let him flush the toilet and we would clap and celebrate. When he started using the toilet he told my wife and I, "No" whenever we put the kiddie seat on the toilet. He wanted to use the potty just like his daddy. It has worked well, and as a bonus he even wipes himself when he is done. I guess he got the from watching me.

i never bought a potty chair for my son, i bought the seat that you put on the toilet b/c i thought having the potty chair would only confuse him. it worked out well for us, but i guess every kid is different.
