My boys names are jacob, joshua and nicholas and they are always in the top 5 of every "most popular" list of baby names I think the other 2 names in the top 5 are john and michael.

It continuously changes. There's a phenomenon from the book, "freakonomics" that I can share with you. People tend not to give their kids the same names as anyone else in the family or even anyone they know. Popular names become less popular over time. Names amongst different cultures also differ tremendously but ungo the same changes.
