There are a lot of machines out there that are not strenuous on your joints. You can purchase one for your home, or join a gym. Don't skip any meals. I lost 30 pounds for my wedding (which was 2 weeks ago) by counting calories. You may not think you're eating bad, but your portions may be too big. I measure out all of my portion sizes and write down what I eat and how many calories are in it every day, and I am still tracking this. Most people are eating bigger portions than they should. Another thing to do, is to eat 5-6 small meals a day. I eat a sensible breakfast, a piece of fruit for a snack between breakfast & lunch, a sensible lunch, then another piece of fruit for a snack between lunch and dinner, and then a sensible dinner. Eating these healthy snacks between meals will help you to not be starving and overeat when you head into your main meals. Try staying around 1500 calories a day. Cut out soda and butter and you'll save a lot of calories. I only have one soda a day and everything else is water. You should eat carbs, though, they help fill you up and give you energy. Try healthier ones like brown rice and whole wheat pasta. You have to exercise, so you need to find something that you can do. Check out exercise videos, too. You can do this if you stick to it. It's going to take a commitment to accomplish it by Sept. But, don't skip meals, it's not healthy. You want to learn good eating habits so you don't gain the weight right back.

It's not only what you eat is the amount of food too. Try eating smaller meals instead.
Going to the mall is not exercise. Try walking 2 miles a day in addition to go to the mall.
If you have bad knees and arthrities is because you are too heavy for your frame. Say NO to sodas and try water and unsweeten tea instead. Skip fast food restaurants and avoid at all costs going to a all-you-can eat buffet, they are the worse enemy. Eat whole grain bread instead of white bread, skip dessert and say no to fatty dressings for the salad.
There is no magic trick to lose weight. If you really want this for yoru wedding and your own health you have to change your lifestyle.
Excersise more, eat better, is the only way. Good luck

I'm a firm believer in the South Beach diet.. and in the diet pill Leptoprin :)
On the diet alone, I lost about 7 lbs a week.. and I've also used the Leptoprin with a sensible diet and lost 4 lbs in 3 days..

Find an ellyptical trainer. It's great aerobic exercise and it's very kind to the knees. Also, let your last meal of the day be the lightest, at least 3 hrs before bedtime. Drink nothing but water.

1. work out.
2. eat healthy.
there are machines at the gym that you can use which do not put any pressure on the knees, so you should be OK.
