Why will excel not autosum a set of numbers sometimes. I formatted the cells to be a number cell(not that it should matter) and I can't figure out why when I highlight a column of numbers it won't add them up for me in the bottom of the window pane. Even when I try to highlight them and hit autosum it doesn't work like it's supposed to. What's up?

When I sum the entire column it's returns 0 even though it's several thousand worth of data numbers.

I have found this to be an intermittent glitch in the program. Not sure what or why. Most of the time, it works fine. Every now and then, after creating a new excel document, I run into this problem.

My get around on this is to take an existing .xls document that cooperates and modify then save. Make sure to rename the file as to not overwrite the original.

First click the cell where you want the Autosum.
click the Autosum button
Then highlight the cells for the sum.

I use the Auto-Sum by going to a cell below a long list of numbers and then hitting the auto-sum button. I have never not had it work using that method.

You didn't have numbers like 23.7 or 45,8 did you? Check if all number formats are the same. Good Luck!
