He was helping Christ fulfill his destiny and should be lauded for it.

Okay, he did it out of greed. But wasn't he just a pawn in the bigger plan? Why didn't Jesus turn himself in if he wanted to be crucified for the sins of mankind? I can't make any sense of it.

Judas prefered the 30 pieces of silver over his master, that is why he is labeled as a traitor...but the real problem was not in his betrayal, but so much so that he hung himself after realising what he did.
Peter detrayed Christ too yet he is not labeled a traitor, the only difference between them is that Peter repented and did not allow his pride get the best of him like Judas did

Judas betrayed Jesus because he turned Jesus in.
God allowed this to happen because this is the way it was prophesied. Judas repented and tossed the 30 pieces of silver in the temple. He was murder after that. He did not commit suicide.
Matthew 37:3
Act 1:16-18

Judas chose his course for self gain. In no way was he "helping" Christ. He was Jesus' apostle & friend. He betrayed him for 30 pieces of silver.

Jesus was not intent on giving up his life for the sins of mankind. But, He was willing to accept man’s wrath in defense of God’s new world Church. Jesus had a free will, as all men do, to denounce the Father & free himself, or humble himself under the extreme persecution of his captors. He chose His path without question or forethought. Judas also chose a course, one of greed & infamy.

Man has free will, and Judas could have taken a different course of action. The soldiers could have found Jesus easily without Judas's help

he did horrible thing taking money and he knew that what he was doing was wrong and had a sence of it. having the correct knowlege of something and then going against that knowlegd is the greatest sin that judah commited. he knew that christ was the savior and redemer and son of god and he decided to say no i don't care money is more important. when he was taught by christ the person that he had served by that money did not matter it was eternity. he made a fool of himslef by choosing that which was wrong. and yes it did need to happen, but we should not congradulate people for their wrong doings

He selfishly betrayed Christ, taking matters into his own hands instead of selflessly following his rabbi. While God's will prevailed nonetheless, that does not wash Judas' hands from the stains of his self glorifying actions.

Because that is the way "they" decided to write the Bible. Remember it was man that wrote the book, not God. Life is all about perspective and choice.
