HELL YEA

nope, not a government military of any kind. they are too restricted by politics and bleeding hearts. Now a private army is a different story, i would join that. Being able to achieve military objectives without restraint and doing it with less manpower and a whole lot less money. This trend is working on a small scale currently and is very effective.
As to the term "killing machines" i do disagree. Protecting innocent people in other countries does involve killing off the evil population but this is necessary and is not always pretty. Maybe if you moved to an underdeveloped country in Africa somewhere and lived in constant fear of harm or death from some rebel group or gang lord you might have a different attitude.

You are misinformed troll.
The ratio of combat to non combat is 10-1 at least!!!
Join the military and there is greater likelyhood you will be changing spark plugs or shuffling paper than winding up in combat unit.

I will find stats and add later.
Got to go to work.

The TAA-03 yielded a requirement for 672,000 deployable troops to fight two nearly simultaneous major conflicts. Of those, 195,000 would be combat troops. The other 477,000 (over 70 percent) would be support forces, which would outnumber combat troops by almost 2.5 to 1. That requirement is not without controversy, however, because it differs from both previous analytic results and actual combat experience.

I can understand turboweegie’s message. I too served in the military being discharged in 1959, and yes, if I was younger, I would join today.

A Home guard, it did exist during World War II and that might not be a bad idea for today..

I am too old now. I was in the military, but separated 17 years ago. I would, however, join a home-guard militia, if needed.

By killing machines you mean people loyal to the United States of America that actually have the guts to go fight for what they believe in while scrawny puzzywimps like yourself benefit from their protection? Enjoy their protection while you hide behind your computer in your room in your Mommy's house calling other people names.

Of course, I would not. It`s madness to work in the army where people do staff like in Abu-Graib prison.
