She is a 12 yr old minature poodle in very good health. I do know choking is a hazard
so i do take them away from her when they get for the lack of a better word, slimy. I need to know more about the effects of it on her health. Thanks for your input so far.

Yes. Much better than the rawhide snacks. Pig ears are easily digested and dogs love them.

They are fun for the dog! But you need to watch the dog as they can get chocked on the pig ears. Also they are very fattening and should be given sparingly. There are also lamb ears which are not as fattening.

Most dogs love them! It's good for their teeth, too. Also makes them stop chewing on furniture (and you) for a while. Just make sure your dog doesn't choke on them. This can be a disaster in the makings if you don't watch them.

No they should not.Pigs' ears have a high fat content and can lead to obesity. They can also cause stomach upset in some dogs. Because they are high in fat, they can irritate the pancreas, causing pancreatitis in susceptible dogs. This results in vomiting, lethargy, abdominal pain and diarrhea.

you can buy pig ears at walmart or petco for dogs, but they are dried.

if you want to put up with the mess, i guess fresh ears from a butcher shop would be a real treat for your dog.

They are a choking hazard, rawhides also. Dogs chew off to large a piece and try to swallow.

I've never heard that you shouldn't, but I have given my dogs pig ears and have no adverse effects.

i use to work for a vet and he was not a fan because after they chew on them for awhile they get gooey and the dog tries to swallow it and chokes or pukes because of it. so i guess if you throw it away before its ewwey and goeey it wouldnt be a big deal!

It depends on what breed of dog you have. I have 3 english bulldogs and they can't have them because they will choke. You can call you vet and ask him/her.
