my grandson is allergic to red dye like in koolaid. what else is red dye in? this allergy does not run in my family.

could be that this specific color contains something your grandson is allergic to. you do not need to have this allergy in your family.
when children are born, they do not have any allergies at all. they are first developed when being exposed to a substance the body registrates and calls it a 'bad guy'. then this substance enteres the body the 2nd time, now the allergic reaction occurs.
to simply explain the occuring of allergies is: the immune system is bored and looks for things to fight (usually totally harmless substances such as the red dye).

a lot of products contain red dye, but most of the time it is a different chemical set up so he might not develop an allergic reaction.

if problems occur, see a doctor.

it's in some pops, i'm allergic to it to. mostly, coke products or othr dark pops, just check to make sure.
