No.

North Korea has let their army fall apart. Basically all they have are their missiles. And if we demonstrate that we can shoot down their missiles at will - they have no leverage over anybody whatsoever.

No, China wont allow a large scale war at its doorstep over such trivial matter, China has enough trouble at its hand with the economy, Taiwan, and many other problems, it doesn't want to fight the US, nor does it want North Korea to be crushed by US military, it wants North Korea to be troublesome enough to divert US attention, but no way in hell China will let North Korea drag itself into a open conflict with the US, it simply doesn't worth it, in fact, some people even went so far to suggest that China should send troop to overthrow Kim's regime if North Korea shows sign of preparing an invasion.

I'm surprised that people still think that the next nuclear weapon used in the world will be delivered on a missile. It won't be. The next WMD used will be in the back of a truck or in a container on a ship in some major American city.

N.Korea knows this and is using this missile simply as a bargaining tool, kinda like a petulant child expecting a reward for putting daddy's golf clubs back in the garage. If we did shoot it down, It would look good in a nationalistic sense, but it would only accelerate the countdown to the real nuclear event (Lil' Kim Jong wouldn't be too happy to see his phallus shot out of the sky.)

No.

Now if their missile carrying a nuclear warhead hit the Los Angelos or San Francisco probably.

But the liberals would say Bush was over reacting .

And the conspiacy theorists would say North Korea didn't really attack the US and it was a plot by Cheney and Halliburton complete with pictures from some obsecureweb site showing a US nuclear warhead being trucked into downtown San Francisco or Los Angelos.

Any hostile action against an independent nation amounts to entering into war against that country.
By doing what you said, you have already entered in to war.
Think it otherwise, Korea or any other country doing the same with America.
Rules are same for all, irrespective of the size and might of a country/nation.

The real answer lies in the question, "what was it aimed at" or " who are we claiming it was aimed at". this is far more important due to the fact that it would would legitimize a countries demand to come in take over. So, the act itself would not cause a war but rather the politics afterward. Also, if this missile is aimed at something within their borders...its nobodies business. However, if it goes outside its realm NKorea knows that not only will it give the US a reason to come in, but at the same time it will piss off all of its neighbors.

NO! Why do people keep asking this? Countries do not go to war over such trivial things.

North Korea would not declare war because they know they'd get their a$$ kicked. The USA would not declare war because it just wouldn't want to for many reasons, not least the fact that it wants peace more than anything.

Please note that the Korean Conflict is not over. We brokered a cease fire in 1953 and that is where we have been since. Our troops are there and have been all these years. So it will depend on what the facts truly are as to what are action will be.
