Tray app is the application that puts items on your desktop tray (the line that the Start button, etc. is on is the tray). To stop this, you have to do control+alt+delete to get the task manager window to open. Then click Task Manager, then the Processes tab. Scroll down if necessary to find the tray application, then you have the option to close it.
