Hi, I'm sorry to hear about your cat. The lump could be a tick, which turns dark through feeding on the cat's blood. Alternatively it could be a bad tooth or something wrong inside the mouth. If she is really thin but eating, I would suggest worming her as if she is full of worms, then they would be taking the nutrients out of the food she is eating. In any case, I would be inclined to pop you pet for a quick check at the Vets. If you have problems with money, contact the Cats Protection League and they may be able to help with any Vets costs.

My cat had a little bump on her cheek, it was hard to see because of so much hair. A few weeks later, I felt it and it was kinda mushy and a little smaller than a golf ball. Everyone told me it was cancer.
I was afraid to take her to the vet, coz I couldn't handle the thought of her having cancer. She wasn't acting like anything was wrong though. But, I knew I had to do something.
I finally took her to the vet. They didn't know what it was, but it had to be removed. They sent what they removed to an animal pathologist. They couldn't tell me what it was either, but it wasn't cancer.
That was about 3 years ago. I'm glad I did it. It hasn't come back. I think it cost around $250.00 to have it done, but it was well worth it.
My little Punkin is alive and well and if I hadn't taken her to the vet, I may not have been able to be with her today. Taking her to a vet is really the best thing to do.

Why haven't you taken your pet to the vet? Even a vet wouldn't give a diagnosis over the internet after a quick description. I wonder if you think you'll get into trouble with your vet for letting her get into such a state? Your vet will say something like "I wish you'd brought her in sooner" but is unlikely to call the RSPCA.
But your neighbours might, and at the moment you are facing prosecution if someone calls them. You have sat and watched your cat become ill and done nothing; that is the definition of neglect.

The lump could be something as simple as an abscess, tick or cyst or something as nasty as a tumour and I'm afraid you'll need a vet to diagnose it further.
The weight loss concerns me more. Although you'll probably need blood tests to diagnose exactly why she is losing weight, it may be completely unrelated to the lump. An over-active thyroid gland commonly causes weight loss if the cat is still eating (particularly overeating), but if she has lost her appetite, it could be kidneys or liver.
Of course, it could be related to the lump, in which case cancer would be the diagnosis - cats lose weight with a prolonged cancer - but don't let this scare you. It may NOT be that, but you will need a vet to tell you where to go next with her.

You should have taken her to the vet at once when you noticed her weight loss; animals are like humans in respect of sudden weight loss meaning illness. Take her to the vet ; if this is just a cyst, he will remove it, and if its anything else he will know what to do. You dont say how old your cat is, or if she has been spayed? She could have worms, as this will make her skinny, but you really do need an expert to see her, as clearly something is not right. Good luck to you both.

Take her to the vet. I don't know if it is cancer but it could be. If the cat is an older cat, they are like people the older we get the more thing go wrong. The vet is the only one who can tell you if it is cancer and the only one who can treat the problem. Hopefully it is some gland swollen but take to vet for your own peace of mind.

My dog has got a lump on its leg which won't go away and when we took it to the vets the vet told us it was arthritis and that we were lucky the lump was on the leg as most animals get lumps on the face. He gave us a special syrup to help so my advice is to go to the vets. mind my vet did charge £50

It could be anything. Any lump whether on a human or pet should be investigated. It may be she got something stuck in it or it may be something more sinister.Take your cat to the vet, that way you will know.As you say your cat has lost weight, its better to be safe than sorry.Good luck.

I'm sorry to have to say this but it sounds like cancer. they along with k-9s get this lump like water under there skin. if it has cancer in it. they will be able to give him or her radiation to help plus they can give pain medication. The weight loss should have been the first big clue besides the lump. take him or her straight to the vets office to have this taken care of. if you don't its just going to suffer.
