Blocks, all different shapes and colors. Non toy items, measuring spoons, anything mommy and daddy use a lot. A wipey container lol (my 1 yr old in 2 days is playing with one right now). Curious Buddies movies for 12 month olds. One of those pop up toys if you do the different things to them, like push a button, turn a knob, etc. A ball. shoes with long shoe strings. Something simple like a toy that you can put one type of another toy into, and it makes lots of sounds and lights.

This is great, both my boys got one for their first birthdays and they still play with it now (they are 3 & 4). Boys love to bang on things and this is great!! Also they have bigger cars made by Playskool, they are great big enough for little hands...yet sturdy enough that when Daddy steps on them it doesn't break into a million pieces. As a Mom of two little boys, I have a million ideas.
Good Luck!!
