with cancer, would you take chemotherapy and radiation or say "forget it" and live your life to the fullest until you die? What reason do you have? I think that I would chose not to have chemo (have had cancer before) because it seems to make people sicker. I saw what my parents went through prior to them dying and it seems to me they probably would have lived the 2 years and not been quite as miserable if it wasn't for the chemo. What are your thoughts and is your opinion from experience?

You are right about the chemo and the radiation people are in a lot of pain and suffer from it but I have seen it go both ways Ive seen people go thru it and still die and there last months were just painful and not being able to do any last accomplishments. Then ive seen them go thru it all and live like they never had it. Its bad but anything with the medical profession is a gamble. My husband was diagnosed with cancer in his Liver as soon as they did the biopsy he passed away. I have seen a lot and heard a lot of this happening. They have killed a lot of people with the biopsy needle because they go thru the organ and not in it and it puts the cancer into the body. Good luck in making the right choices.

1st of all, I would definitely take chemotherapy these days. It is not the same as the chemo your parents took. There have been many exceptional developments in this field including shots that will assist in raising your blood cell count. There are also injections that you can receive that help counteract the nausea that you may have witnessed.
My wife was diagnosed with an extremely rapid growth cancer (stage 3) and went through both chemo and radiation and all the hardships that came with it. (Hair loss, loss of appetite, weakness, etc.). This was almost 5-years ago. I know for certain that I would have lost her had she not gone through all of this. She is much better now. Cancer free at this moment. and enjoying life. We both worry that it may come back but we're living every minute to the fullest and remain cautiously optimistic.
Hope this helps.

i am 16 and my dad died of a reaccurance of cancer a year ago last monday and he had chemo the first time he was diagnosed a year and a half before he died and if he hadn't had that then we would have lost him earlier than we did as chemo killed it first time round. He was offered it the second time also and he said he wanted it because he wanted as long as possible with me and my 2 sisters even though he knew he was going to die. In the end he didn't have it purely because he became much worse much more quickly than anyone thought he would. I think it is purely personal circumstances and whether the diagnosed believes what their decision is the best one for them.

I think you are right if you decide not to take chemo. I also think you should talk to several special est before making a final decision to see what success rate they have had in treating your type of cancer. Technology is improving in cancer research all the time and your chances of beating cancer is much higher. I certainly hope your cancer will never come back and you live a long and healthy life.

Mmmmmm tough one eh! i think it really would depend on how aggresive the cancer. i have believed for a long time now that chemo and R.T can simply prolong a certain undignified death enabling specialists to use sufferer as "research"........
