The only permanent solution I have is the Austin Air PET Machine. A bit pricey but if you want to permanently keep your cat and permanently have the smell gone then I’d suggest it no doubt. No matter how hard I tried to wash out the carpets or the couches or even the walls the smell would always come back. Apparently its just a lingering smell in the air, so with the pet machine now I don’t have to waste my time every week scrubbing for hours. Hope this helps! -Randall

There is a pet odour enzyme cleaner you can get from a pet store. It works really good. You get if from pet-land here don't know if you have one there. The only other thing is to rip up the carpet and get new stuff. Also if you have a cat right now the smell may not be going away because the cat is spraying on the area's that the other cats have.

Sorry to have to say this, but you can't. You can mask the odor for awhile, but it will come back eventually because it's soaked down into the carpet pad, too. . And if another cat smells it, they'll pee there, too. New carpet is the only solution. That's why it's hard to rent with pets, because the landlord almost always has to replace the carpet when a pet moves out.

Clean your carpet very thorouhly using a professional-type carpet washer. If its possib le, take it up and clean the back too, as cat urine soaks through like any other liquid. If you cant do that, make up a mixture of Ariel washing powder, about one scoop to each pint of hot water, and make sure it has absolutely all dissolved. Clean your carpet with this instead of the usual basic carpet cleaner fluid.. Let it dry through completely, then g ive it a really thorough vacuum cleaning, and this should do the job. Spraying the carpet afterwards with Febreze should help, too.

You can buy pet urine neutraliser from vets which work well or as someone has already said hire a carpet cleaner along with a pet odour neutraliser. The solutions can be quite strong chemically so make sure you ventilate the room well by opening windows.
Good luck!

There is a cleaner that Oreck sales at Oreck.com that is called No Return. I swear by it. It takes a stain out and it also takes the smell of the urine out. If it is old, it make take a few times to use it. And it is not a cheap solution, but I love it. I use it on all my stains in my home from my cat and myself being clumsy! Thats what I recommend using!!

Use club soda. Pour it on the spot, let is soak for about 30 minutes and then blot it up with a towel until it is dry. The club soda gets rid of the stain and the smell and your cat won't even smell it anymore. I learned this from my vet and it totally works! Don't use any of the things you can buy at the store, they don't work and leave your place with the smell of strong chemicals.

They sell stuff at pet stores. If that doesn't work, I would suggest a professional carpet cleaner. That smell is hard to get rid of!

Use a product called Freshana Organic Solutions. By far the best product for cat urine problems bar none.
Iris D. - "I MUST inform you of my impression of your air freshening product. AMAZINGLY FRESH, ECO FRIENDLY & PROMISING PRODUCT. The fragrance is light but refreshing. The water based solution doesn't threaten anything that you need to freshen. As I mentioned yesterday, I have cats. I don't just have cats, I have five felines. They are used to scattering, hiding and sneezing when you use even (the supposedly) pet friendly Febrese. We used it all over my apartment, places that are difficult to conquer like the just "cooked in" kitchen and the areas for our litter boxes. Then, we did the sniff test with some neighbors. All of them (especially one) said that you couldn't tell we had animals! I mean, cat urine is the toughest nut to crack, but THIS WORKED."

Depending on how long this has been going on you can use white vinegar or may have to have a professional cleaner to come in and inject an enzyme into the padding. However if the odor has gotten all the way to the floor itself, it maybe a mute point but you can try these things and meanwhile try (I know its hard) to restrict these cats to what rooms they are allowed in.
