Try warm water with a soft towel, and soak the eye a little at a time,it should make it soft enough for the cat to open the eye.good luck.

Could be an infection. Dip a cottonball in warm water and rub it gently to get the matter off. This will help get the eye open, but not the infection. You can see your vet, but I usually just keep a tube of "Terramycin" on hand that I got on the internet without a prescription for this purpose. Put a little bit on your finger and after you've cleaned the kitten's eye, just put it in the corner. It doesn't burn and the infection usually clears up in a day or so. Good luck.

I foster kittens through our local humane society and at least one or two kitens in a litter always have this problem. Everyone else is correct, its most likely a Upper Respitory Infection. Although you can wash it gently with q-tips and warm water, you can also take your cat to the vet and he will give you a ointment that you place over the eyes and it will clear it up within the day. The medicine is extremely cheap, only 9 dollars (canadian) at my vet, and the checkup should only be around 25 (canadian) so its not very costly and it makes the world of difference for a fast and effective medication. Plus you can keep the tube and leftover medicine for future problems.

It's very common in kittens, and is most likely allergies or a small bacterial infection. Warm water and gentle cloth a couple of times a day should clear it up just fine in a few days. If it lasts longer than that, you should see the vet as your kitten may require medicated eye drops.

It is a common oddity with kittens but not serious the best you can do is wipe the eye out with salt solution made on with warm water
You must also get some eye ointment and put it in the eye once you have cleaned the eye if it doesn't clear then take your baby to the vet.

#1 your kitten needs to go to the vet NOW...not tomorrow, not in a few days, not if it doesn't clear up....NOW!

#2 I would bet that she probably does have a respiratory infection and they are serious. I adopted, what looked like, a healthy cat and within a week she was almost dead and required nearly constant care for a respiratory in fection. Everytime she went to sleep she would wake up with boogers on her eyes so bad that she could not open them.

#3 get a warm wash cloth and hold it, gently, over her eyes to melt the boogers...with a lil light rubbing they should come off

but

#4 TAKE HER TO THE VET

Yes warm up some milk and take an eye dropper and put it on the eye and wipe off the goo. Also when the goo is gone put the milk in the cats eye. Do that for a couple days to a week and that should help. If that cat doesnt let you put it in his eye just the outside will do. Also it works on humans for pink eye :) CNA/CMT training and lots of exp. with animals. P.S. If that doesn work the vet can help. Let me know.Pancake_****_01 @yahoo

Yes this is very common in kittens. Go to your local vet clinic, they have a salve that you put in there eyes 2 to 3 time a day, will clear it up in about a week.

It's probably an infection, which, yes, can be very common in kittens. You should take your kitten to the vet and get some medication for it.

It has an eye infection, Take it to the vet and get some drops or ointment to put in it to clear it up asap. Infections left unchecked can cause damage to your kittens eyesight for life.
