A dog is only as good as the training it receives! Its as simple as that. Start training as soon as you acquire a dog. Take your dog to obedience/socialising classes. Be consistent in ALL training.NEVER let your dog have the last word! You are the leader, not your dog! Good luck with her!

I think you should have done your homework before you got your puppy!
There is nothing wrong with the breed but they do need firm, fair handling and training. It is possible to be a gentle teacher to your dog and still earn its respect.
Some people buy Rotties to improve their street cred or their macho image - wrong!. These types also seem to think that the only way to make a dog obedient is to brutalise and dominate it - also wrong.
What you get is a dog that has learned aggression from an aggressive owner. The problem with Rotties lies mainly with the sort of people who get them for all the wrong reasons. The other problem is that when they do become aggressive they are so powerful they can do serious damage.
Rotties can put up with a lot of abuse and they do not get angry quickly - they have a slow burn which will eventually erupt, often after years of ill treatment.
Take your dog to puppy socialisation classes and then training classes. Make sure that the dog trainers use kind, effective methods with loads of reward based training and positive reinforcement.
Any dog should enjoy training and enjoy the confidence that comes when it knows it is doing what you want it to do. One of the secrets of good dog training is teaching the dog in such a way that it really wants to do what you want it to do.
A dog that is always being nagged and told off can become depressed and fearful which can lead to aggressive behaviour.
Rotties are intelligent and easily trained and they make great family dogs. A properly raised Rottweiler is very easy going and sociable and makes a wonderful companion. Treat your Rottweiler right and you should have a friend for life.

My 3 year old son had 9 staples a couples of months ago in the top of his head form a rottweiler.
And this was suppose to be a friendly dog.
Just for the record my son was not even bothering the dog or even near it when it pounced on him.
I also know someone else who had one and he was very friendly and just a great big teddy bear, then one day his bit the owners mother for no reason.
And yes I have heard of the saying that their are no bad dogs just bad owners. I would check out the behavior of the parents of the dog and their siblings along with any other litters. This is a kind of dog that has to have a really good family history before anyone should consider having one as a family pet.

It all depends on how the animal is treated and raised as well as it's natural temperament.
Personally I still wouldn't have one and I would only take it out on a blooming strong leash and only if it was wearing a muzzle.
I wouldn't ever have a rottweiler as a family pet specially with kids, this breed is known for attacking people whether the person deserved it or not.
I wouldn't take the risk with my own child or anyone elses.
Why didn't you research the breeds temperament before buying it and the temperament of the mother, that should have been your first move after all all the info you could ever want is easy to find online

Absolutely not!
It is all in how they are raised and how early you get started from separation from their mother! Granted they are larger and have bigger teeth, so it may take more work than a...poodle, but it isn't hard. I think that the sex of the dog plays a part too, this is just my experience, girl dogs tend to be more lovable...but I have seen situations reversed! It also depends on where you get your dog, again this is just my experience, pet shop dogs tend to be more aggressive than from breeders or family owned dogs!
For the record, we had a poodle that we got at 1 year old and he was mean as can be, then we got a rotty pup and he is a total baby! My aunt hated dogs, but when my cousin left she took care of his rotty, now she loves her...this dog is the sweetest thing! We also have had a mean cocker spaniel because we got him from a pet shop already 9 months old, then our friend has 2 pit bulls and they are sweeties and so good with kids!
So what everyone says isn't always the case!

No - I don't think they are.
Due to their size and power when full grown they make pretty scary and effective guard dogs, but this is trained in to them - if they are raised as a family pet and disciplined if they show any signs of attack (just as you would with any pup) then they are lovely dogs. Do be aware though, because of their size, if they do have a bad turn for some reason (as any dog can) then they are capable of doing more damage than most.
Give her lots of cuddles and love, don't let her get territorial about her food, toys, the car or any particular area of the house and you should be fine.
Enjoy her - dogs are such a pleasure to own.

LUCKY YOU!!!
I had a Rottweiler. They are fantastic guard dogs and are very protective of their owners. They make brilliant pets and are great with children. Rottweilers are so soppy, not at all how they are portrayed. There is no such thing as a bad dog, just bad owners.

I used to have Rottweiler's before, as any dog it depends on the owner and how you raise the puppy. My granddaughter used to use them for a pillow when she took a nap. Give the puppy alot of love and attention and he or she will be just fine. You will end up with a very lovable pet who is devoted to you and your family.

Any breed of dog can be trouble if not properly treated and trained. Rottweilers, like staffy's can be loving pets if you know what to do. First...obedience classes, they teach you how to control your pet. Make sure your dog knows you are the alpha of the pack. Your family IS the dogs pack. If you have children make sure you teach them not to mistreat or play rough with the dog and when the dog indicates a need for downtime...respect that. If you would like tips on how to make the dog believe you are alpha feel free to contact me.

I have a 5 month Rottweiler ***** called Jade. I have had no trouble with her. Your pup will bite and tear stuff, but only because she is teething. Oh and by the way, you know what you call a female dog beginning with b? Why is it blanked out? That is what you technically call a female dog isn't it?

They are only as bad as you raise them. I got a Pitbull puppy for my son 15 months ago and we took her to puppy classes which helped. I trust this dog completely around my year old granddaughter so it is all in how you raise them. Don't ever hit the dog with your hand and you will be fine. Good Luck!
