Sometimes, my phone rings and when I pick it up, I hear a long dial tone. after a while the dial tone stops and I hear nothing else. Why does this happen? any answers appreciated!!

Is it, perhaps, someone calling your number from a fax machine? It may be that someone has a fax number written down incorrectly as yours.

A fax signal would not be a steady tone, really, but it would probably send out a steady signal initially until the machine it was calling replied. Of course, your phone is not connected to a fax, so there will be no reply from your end.

Can you dial 1471 (UK lines - there will be an equivalent if you are elsewhere in the world) to discover the number that called you?

the caller might have hanged up before you got to the phone. get a Calling line id feature you might have to change your phone set to support this but this way you will know who and if there's somebody calling you

thats because the person calling u cut the phone.. u may need to get a new instrument or contact ur linesman

Something wrong with your carrier or with your phone service provider. Try to contact yoru PSP.

i think u betta call ur service provider. either dat, maybe there is smthg wrong with the settings of ur phone.
