The only safe way to remove tartar is to see a dentist or hygienist because this stuff is hard to reach and very hard to get off the teeth. Plaque on the other hand is the soft film that acts as a precursor to the calcified tartar and can easily be removed with proper brushing and flossing.

Tartar is best removed by a dental hygenist at your local dentist's office. They will use either traditional metal tools to, quite literally, scrape tartar off the surfaces of your teeth, or they may use modern tools which employ ultrasonics. Most dentists will not recommend that you attempt to remove tartar at home, as it can be difficult to properly clean your back teeth and there is a risk of injury because tartar occurs not just on the visible tooth surface but also below the gumline, requiring a minor amount of careful probing beneath the soft and fragile tissue of your gums.

Use a tartar control toothpaste. Brush regularly. After brushing rinse your mouth with Hydrogen-Peroxide. It taste wierd but you will get used to it. Let it foam and just spit out the foam. Do not rince it out. This will work ,also, if you rinse with Hydrogen-Peroxide before brushing.
When you are at the dentist. Ask him the name of those red dye tablets. You should be able to get them at a drug store.
You chew them and the tartar will be stained red. Then you keep brushing until all the red is gone.

What you mean is tartar which is calculus.
It is removed by the dentist or hygienist every 4 to 12 month (depending on its rate of formation).
It is removed by sonic and ultrasonic instruments combined with hand instruments, then polishing of teeth is done.
It will work .. it is an easy procedure with 100 % success rate.
Of course if u have sever gingivitis the treatment plan is different .. we are talking about regular scaling here .. OK !!

whitening strips do not remove tartar. you need to start fresh by having a good dental cleaning to remove the plaque and tartar from your teeth , then continue using a tartar control tooth paste to keep it at bay. that should work nicely.

Your best bet is to go to a dentist, but a good homemade remedy for teeth whitening is to make a paste of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide and use daily.

I think you mean tartar, and your first stop should be your dentist who will sort it out for you and then give you the best advice for preventing further build ups of it.
