i always try to get something they want that they normally wouldn't 'waste' their money on - like a luxury item. If you're his best mate, they you should know him better than anyone. Is he into sports, music, cars, food, wildside? Two best things I could guess for someone i don't know is - xbox360, skydiving, or football tickets!

Couples almost always put together a wedding registry at a store with things they want their guests to purchase. If they don't have one or you want to do something different for them its best to get something that BOTH of them would like or use. If they are fans of a certain singer or band get them concert tickets; if they are sports fans get them awesome seats to an upcoming game; etc. If you are really good friends with the groom the dollar amount you should shoot for is at least $100 total. Hope this helps!

Holiday vouchers? Check the wedding list. Maybe a gift for charity- check out Oxfam website. Some sort of experience gift that they can do together e.g. balloon ride, maybe check out where they are going on there honeymoon and book something you think they would enjoy, what depends on where they are going; watersports, cruise, desert picnic, trekking... Ask him if you're really not sure- I'm sure he'll appreciate that you're giving it some sort.

Do they not have a wedding Gift List ?
Check with your mate to see normally they do.
I know its sounds boring but a store gift voucher say for John Lewis is good.
If your friend doesn't have a list just use the opportunity to ask what they really want.

Are they singers? My best pal and her hubby are singers (on karaoke etc) and we got them a voucher so that they can make their own CD. They go to a recording studio together and make 2 songs up and then get them on CD. We thought it was something different and really personal. Think it was about £150. Hope this helps.

I can't give you specific ideas but I will say this. What you buy speaks on what you think of his marriage. You should get something that both he and his new wife can use together. It is a good way to show her that you have basically accepted her as a part of him and no longer think of him as just one man but as a unit comprised of both of them.

Money is always the perfect gift - then they can spend it anyway they like. I would recommend $125 or more, depending on how good a friend he is.

Health club membership...for a month or six month or for a year.
Helicopter ride, rent sea doo certificate, hot air balloon ride.
Matching tennis/squash/raquet ball raquets, or two pairs of roller blades, or two pairs of ice skates, two baseball gloves for catch.
