Both of my children have had it, and I think it is a wonderful vaccine. How cruel of those parents to suggest exposing your child to a illness that can KILL, on purpose. And to the person that told you the vaccine causes shingles, they are wrong. If you have had chicken pox, you are at risk of getting shingles later in life.
Chicken pox is miserable! It hurts, its itches, and it can kill you. Before the vaccine, it was best to expose children when they were young because the least complications happen then. But now that we have a vaccine its not necessary.

Yes, get him vaccinated! These people who are saying let him get the chicken pox don't know what they are talking about. Some people have a misconception that this is a harmless childhood disease. This isn't true. Like any other disease it can cause harm and even death to some children. If he is vaccinated, then he won't get it later on in life. I got my daughter vaccinated. I'm glad I saved her from missing at least a week of school, passing it on to others, and being miserable and itchy.

My children are 8 and 9, and they got the chicken pox vaccine when they were a year old. Most of us remember having a mild chicken pox case when we were children, but the truth is that chicken pox can and does kill. None of my children's friends have ever had chicken pox, and it is now a rare disease in this area.

no. let him catch chicken pox. very important. you WANT him to catch chicken pox, as the antibodies he bulids up during chicken pox will protect him from worse things. I have also heard that the vaccine (which is a live-virus vaccine) has been resulting in shingles, which is really bad and is fromed by reawakened chicken pox. definitely dont get him vaccinated.

Unless the doctor adivises you to get it, I would not do it. You never know about the side effects of these vaccines. Also, if your child is healthy, he or she should survive the chicken poxs just fine.

Yes, get it. I got it for my son and he had the mildest case the Dr had ever seen when he did get them, only 6 pox on his belly and no itching. I even had to get it about 10 years ago because Ive never had chicken pox.

America started like 6 or 7 years ago, i guess i dont really see the reason for it but if you can keep your child from going through that discomfort why not do it. The needle takes a second and then they are over it.
