First and foremost I would say do your research. They all have great benefits it just depends on your motive for joining. I chose the Army when it was me in your shoes. Mostly because I was really young and had a lot of growing up to do after high school. I wanted the discipline I got from the "Be All You Can Be" Army and the freedom to choose my job. Other services don't allow that. On the other hand the Army is the only branch serving 1 year rotations in Iraq at this time.
Just do your research and talk to your parents. Remember though you are the one who will have to live with this decision so let it be yours. Good Luck

In case you were wondering, no I don't regret joining the Army, I have had some hard times but ultimately I have gained so much. I have had more experiences, been more places, and met more people than I could have ever dreamed of had I stayed at home.

as en ex-officer, I can tell you that the law enforcement field is an awsome field to be in. There's nothing like the commradery of the department. Being an officer you have to hold a lot of patience, understanding, show non-bias, be able to take gruesome and heart wrenching situations all the while being able to control emotions and act professionally. There is a lot to the job. A lot of training is required and necessary, however, the rewards and feeling you get while on the job is indescribable.

I'm getting ready to do the military. You have great insurance. You get paid for having a family. They pay for you collage. Give you base housing for your family. So that is what I decided to do. But either way they are both good jobs. If you want a little of both worlds. Join the military and be an MP.

Boot camp kind prisons exist and are already getting used instead to penitentiary. even nonetheless, they only artwork if the convict is properly attempting to reform. not all drug offenders are addicts, a extensive component of the difficulty is a social difficulty and decrease than no circumstances a criminal difficulty. Boot camp builds esteem, discipline, concentration, etc. If somebody has all that and is smoking pot, why deliver them to reformatory? you're actually not addressing the difficulty. there is not any be-all-end-all panacea to crime. by ability of how, that component of the legal device is seen Punishment, not regulation Enforcement. regulation enforcement is the law enforcement officers on the line.

all the components offer a lot of oportunities, my advice is that you research each and everyone of them, see which one gives you t he best benefits and opportunities for the job you want. I joined right after I graduated high school, and went in the Army to train as a dental Specialist, so far I'm loving it, I'm part of a reserves unit in NY and Right now I'm doing My annual training in a Unit in Germany, I'm having a blast. Army all the way Hooah!!!!

Look into every branch thoroughly. You can choose you job in the navy as well as the army. In the marine corps and air force, you don't have as much say in it. Keep as many options open as possible for as long as possible. Talk to every recruiter at least twice. If you realy want to scare them, bring a lawyer.

You should major in criminal justice. Then, when you become a police officer, you will be passed up for promotion because the high school graduate with no military experience golfs with the chief.

criminal justice and psyhology will really help. But all the stuff you learn in the classroom... forget it when you hit the streets, its a different world out there and some of the stuff they teach you just isnt practical except for your local law codes.
