I think it really doesn't matter if you make a traditional one because its whole purpose is to convince yourself that something's happening, so that you'll see whatever you want to see. They normally have the letters of the alphabet if you want your 'spirit' to spell something out, and a bit marked 'Yes' and a bit marked 'No' - that's all you need to fulfill its purpose. Have fun.
