Note:WITH,not FOR -lol
I figure-from the abysmal ignorance displayed-that there's *maybe* a 1% chance.
Coursing,coon,rabbit,hog,squirrel,upland bird,fox,coyote,terrier work....whatever.

You don't "teach" hunting dogs to "attack other animals"! Sheeeeeeeeesh! Only the terriers & hounds are ever expected to come into contact w/quarry. And you can't "teach" them anything about it. If they're really lucky(& properly cared for-lol) you allow them to hone their natural /bred in abilities.
I do terrier work. Used to have a friend's whippet come along as drawdog/lurcher part of the team. You don't have to be "out west" to use a sighthound!

I have a beagle that goes rabbit hunting. We used to have a mountain fiest that we took squirrel hunting and a mountain fiest/mountain Curr mix that would squirrel or coon hunt. Mountain Fiest are squirrel dogs, but they will try to hunt about anything!

I used to have a few Irish Setters. Right now the extent of it is my border collie keeping the yard free of squirrel. When I get the place I want to have (more room as well as room to train and use them) will have some again - we have a red hound who has basicly adopted us but she - lol well I wouldn't rely on her to find supper other than poured in her bowl. :-D She's young and might surprise us but she's just big and goofy. lol if she were human you wouldn't let her around sharp objects.
Also - the comment about animals fighting other animals...that shouldn't be what hunting dogs do. They find or bring back the game, not fight it themselves.

Sorry, I am not answering your question, I want to know what you breed. Your name and Chetco's pop up on a lot of the questions I answer. You both give some great info.
I am pretty much computer ignorant, this was the only way I could figure out to contact you.

I lure course, not *true* coursing maybe, but it is what is available locally.
I would lOVE to go OFC! At least before it is legislated out of existence!
My dogs do course regularily in my parents fenced in acre, but I am not hunting with them, they do not need my help to do what comes naturally to them. Matter of fact, they would probably rather I just stayed out of the way and shut up!
What about you then, gitemgang?
Nice to see there is another courser here!
