Sure, to some dumb, insecure people, religion may make them feel better about themselves but if you take the wider picture, with so many different religions, it just causes conflict and war.

People have something to believe in... something to give them inner strength. You can't diss them for that.

"Religion" is such a loaded word.

I'm pretty cynical. Even my atheist or agnostic friends call me the most cynical person they've ever known! (By the way, I'm 35, married and have 3 little ones).

I know that our church is responsible for a lot of good. Our Motto is "Making God look good in our community". And that's what we do with our actions. We volunteer for EVERY city-wide event. At times, we are the only volunteers. We have HUGE summer parties at different communities here - Block parties - and we supply the band, the food and the jumpers. We held a dinner and silent auction and 100% of the profits went to teachers so they could further their training. At every school function, if there are volunteers needed, they are there. We don't preach. Our band plays secular songs. But with our presence, people can see how we are and what our lives are about..no preaching needed. I want people to look at me and how I lead my life and say "Wow..what's her secret"?

I'm not gullible, dumb or insecure. I question things. I'm irreverent.

I'm not the person that is going to show up at your door with Jello salad asking that you come to church because you're going to hell otherwise. I'm the person that you see in the volunteer workroom at school- talking about City of Heroes vs. World of Warcraft. And you'll see how happy I am with my marriage, my children and my life in general. You'll see that I'm not typical, not usua and not ordinary. And when you see me volunteering at the next event and I'm wearing my church shirt, you'll know what makes me tick.

Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today...

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

I don't know what is your religion, hence, I cannot quote anything. How about killing? it is prohibited in every religion...in general we should be kind to each other, on a wider scale the nation will be much better off if we treat each other kindly. Get it?

Without religion we wouldn't have morals and virtues. Society is basically a self serving, sinful, selfish thing. Give me religion anytime.

Millions of innocent men, women and children, since the introduction of Christianity, have been burnt, tortured, fined and imprisoned; yet we have not advanced one inch towards uniformity.

Exactly. If no one had any religions, there wouldn't as much fighting. See people, Jesus is BAD!
