Just tell him that you have got enlisted with a new instructor along with a group of your friends and that you will not be continuing with him any more. Break this news politely and with a lot of respect.

Do you have to give a reason to your ex-driving instructor? Just say you want to stop the lessons. End of story and don't feel guilty. There are too many cowboys out there and not only in the driving instruction field.

Just tell him you have decided to put your driving instructions on hold for a while. No other explanation should be necessary.

The same thing happened to me.

Be honest, when he asks tell him you are fine. When he asks about your driving tell him that you are sorted. Be nice, but don't feel bad after all you need to be able to drive!

It is always better to feel guilty than to feel sorry.

That said, do it gently.
