Jews (short for Jewish or people that believed in Judaism) were originally from the Kingdom of Judah. (Judah was a son of Jacob, from the Bible)
Arabs (short for Arabian) were from Arabian Peninsula and/or Saudi Arabia.

First of all, this question is miscategorized. It belongs in a Society & Culture category.
That being said...
"Jew" or "Jewish" comes from Judah, the last of the 12 tribes of Israel (southern Israel, after the north was destroyed and the 10 other tribes lost). Judah being one of the sons of Jacob.
Modern Hebrew people are called "Jews" because they mostly are descended from the tribe of Judah.

The term "Jew" is derived from the religion they are said to practice...Most people of hebrew descent practice Judaism....The people who practice this religion are said to be "Jewish"...Shorten that to "jew" and you begin to understand...For the most part when we shorten the name of any significant person or group it's done in insult...Don't believe me? Call someone of hebrew descent a "heeb" and see what happens.
