Red eye is caused by the flash of the camera reflecting off the back of the person's eye.

In dark environments where flash is used, the eyes tend to be dilated to allow more light in, making the problem of red eye worse. Some cameras give a small flash before the main one so that a person's eyes may retract to prevent it, but this doesn't always work.

Aside from the obvious way to avoid it being don't use the flash, try having the subject look slightly to the side of the camera so the angle stops the flash rebounding back into the camera.

Before you take the photo ask the subjects not to look directly at the camera lens as the retina reflects the flash and causes red eye. you can download a program off the Internet called Piccassa which is free and that has a option to get rid of red eye before you print them off! Hope it helps

You have two choices you can either get a camera with an anti rey eye flash to prevent it from happening in the first place or you can edit it afterwards with some photo editing software (most, even the cheapest varieties have red eye removal). Hope that helps.

Some cameras will bounce a warning flash at your subject, which helps to reduce red-eye (or spooky green eye with pets.) Treat yourself to Photoshop Elements 4 and remove it from your photos, its about £80 from Amazon and worth every penny.

Photoshop and other programs can be used to remove the red-eye effect, there also cameras that will double flash to stop it showing up. Next time your taking a couple of pics tell people not tostare at the flash and you'll ot have to worry about it.

Use computer software like photo shop, if not, you can usually remove that on a self-help print machine that you find in stores (Target, Walgreens, etc)
