Here is an example fro ya. Every other living thing defacates on the surface of the planet. Where the sun, rain, and air can get at it and break it down. But, not man - he chooses to consolodate all of his and pump it somewhere else and cause major pollution. I think if everyone had a poop field in their backyard the earth would be a cleaner greener planet.

I knew I would get the don't move next to me response... Thats a big part of the problem with human beings they don't want to make any sacrifices.. Its all about them and could care less about the enviroment of other living things.

Sorry it's been done already. Back in the middle ages right up until industrialised societies polution in cities was far worse than it is today. If you don't pump it out then it consolidates right where you are. Add the effect of however many million people live in your city and it will smell (hey ta bit of a stink hurt no one) bring vermin (still qacceptable) and disease (that one I'm not too keen on).
Try moving to a country which does not benefit from having the government stress the need for sanitation for all and see what you think. The slums of Delhi for instance are not a pleasant place to live. Cairo has several "garbage cities". Sao Paulo likewise.

you need large plots of land to purify waste before it enters the water table.. or else you get your own drinking water polluted. You can't collect your waste and use it for fertilizer because there are many deseases that can survive and come back to you in the plants you grow (if you use it for growing a garden)
hmmm.. ever watch mold? it uses up it's resources and dies in the middle.. making an outward growing ring.. much like the rest of nature.. only man can change the pattern... most other beings on this planet have checks and balances that keep them from getting out of hand.. except man.. our only check and balance is our own intellect.
we cleaned up our environment of waste to lessen the impact of desease.. we live longer as a result.... there are some things you can recycle to help though.. aluminum, wood, glass, plastic... etc.

it worked this way untill big cities were here with all the problem. if u have a garden, and if u wish you can put some amount of your poo / pee in the compost heap and the compost will be improved this way than if u use just vegetable matter in it. i dont do it though, but i do this with my pets poo and i can tell u it works. a well managed compost heap doesnot smell, the smell is a sign of undesirable processes and poor air availability.
no matter whether you mean it a joke or serious thing, i have heard much more weird and less functional ideas of becoming greener household.

Your solution would work fine if there were only a few million humans living on Earth. It worked just fine when we were "wild" before agriculture was invented. However, now there are just too many of us. Your back yard, unless it is at least an acre is just too small to sustainably dispose of your poop. In a normal back yard the buildup of fertilizer would become toxic to plants and it would become barren after a fairly short time. Then of course there are the health concerns. Sewers were invented primarily to reduce disease and remain our number one health success.

I figured that out on a flight at 39000 ft. Looking down on the tera-firma. I saw no peoples... mountains ,rivers, forests, some roads, and afew buildings. And I thought,as I walk on the city sidewalk and look down do i see the insects there living spaces? so we as humans on this earth are as insects are on this earth , but a parasite liveing on there host this living planet. we truely don't care about nature, some do but most don't... it's greed,, man is greedy

thats the way youre drinking water gets polluted, and your family dies from diseases
your argument is based on a false premise "
...and pump it somewhere else and cause major pollution"
in ciivlized countries, the waste is treated, purified, and returned to the ecosystem, dont know what they do where youre from......
and ya cant use human waste as fertilizer, and i wouldnt use dogshit either

Since when does poop cause major pollution?
Why don't you worry about smog and corporations dumping chemicals in your water supply. You won't be pooping if you drink the sludge infested waters of Lake Erie! :(( I know, because they tell us so...and we are only allowed one fish per three months.
Why don't you worry about that instead of where your putting your poop. Men. They want to put where they sit, and then rub it on their bellies to show their are masculine chaps.

It was not so long ago that poop was used as fertilizer until the big conglomerates came in with their chemicals.
Still, it's good you've opened this up for discussion.

It would be fine if mankind moved nomadically. As it is, cities are fixed in their location; if everyone pood in the same spot it would rapidly become a cesspool of disease.
