Christians have been abused for the last 2000 years and still are. Not because we bother others as they claim we do but because we show up others where they are wrong and people don't like that. But the moment something bad happens all those who put us down come asking us to petition to Jesus for them. Your normal human reaction is to tell them to do it yourself. You can pray just as well as I can, but the Christ in you make forget the way they have treated you and pray for them anyway. No one ever taken pity on Christians the way they have other religions. We have been burned at stake, crucified, boiled in hot oil, beheaded, tongue pulled out, drawn and quartered, used for target practice, every manner of evil to do to a person have been done to Christians. So no doubt about it we have seen a lot of sad days.

I do think Christians get the worst of it, but that could just be because of the categories in which I roam. I've seen quite a bit of abuse towards the Muslims too, though. I may disagree with the tenets of Islam, but I have a problem with the *manner* in which some people disagree. As for the people who target atheists, the ones that are Christian need to learn that while they *should* share their faith, it shows immaturity to even bother answering questions that are only meant to be inflammatory. As for the atheists who have genuine inquiries as to why we believe what we believe, I am very disappointed with Christians who lash out instead of simply giving an answer from the heart. How does furiously telling someone that they're going to hell benefit the Kingdom of God? I am saddened not angry to see someone unenlightened.

I am a Christian.
But, I would rather refer to statistics first before I would allege on anything like that.
I wouldn't bother myself with the attacks either if I am firm about my faith, especially in the knowledge that it is founded on truth.
More importantly, that, if I were a true Christian, I would put on Christ truly and sincerely as well. When He was abused and crucified, for once only did He complain- to His Father, for having forsaken Him. It was only a few minutes before His death; and His story proved otherwise, nevertheless. More than this, I see Christ's death as a reflection of popular malice which we should learn from as a Christian community. It was Christ's understanding, patience and acceptance that we should emulate in that crucifiction so that we don't fall into that false notion of power and illusive popularity. Otherwise, we will not be differentiated from those who crucified Him.
Didn't we mangle Athahualpa to death because he claimed that he was the living god? We judged him agaist Christ though we actually had our greed more for his stored gold. How well did we craft such false righteousness. How many other injustices have we done because we had the power to wield? Let us examine ourselves first before we throw this accusation- could it be that we are actually inviting hostility with this allegation? Peace be with us!
Still, I look at this issue as a nuissance. I'm sure this program was meant for understanding. Delving into this quarrel wastes the purpose of this site. There is also the devil in disguise here, for should the issue be pursued, either way, people will only find division, prejudice, injustice, hostility, and torment. No true Christian thrives in such environment.

muslims are targeted the most, probably due to ignorance on the part of most people, and the need for a scapegoat.
christians are the majority, so how can they be abused more? i think it has something to do with a "victim" mentality that christianity propagates. jesus was victimized, and so were christians in the early centuries. i think that has permeated through to modern times, and people like to think that they're being persecuted just like jesus was when they're really not.
this doesn't apply to all. many realize that they're not abused more than anyone else.

Atheists are treated bad in the USA. I read a pole that said atheists are the single most mistrusted group in the USA, above Muslims and gays. You could not hold public office in the USA as an atheist, could you? But if you go around saying everyone accept people in your religion are going to hell, if you believe dinosaurs walked alongside man, if you believe a god took human form and died on a cross then you deserve abuse

No.
Christians do their fair sure of abusing too. And Christians seem to enjoy setting themselves up for abuse--probably because it gives them the self-righteous glow of being the persecuted martyr.
Many Christians can't seem to grasp that people "abuse" them because they deliberately go out of their way to be completely obnoxious, and prefer to believe that it is because the poor godless heathens have chosen to turn their backs on God.
Basic fact: the content or "righteousness" of your message is not a license to trample madly over the feelings and beliefs of everyone they encounter. People don't like being preached and condescended to by complete strangers, and seldom react well to it.
These people have probably turned more people away from God than they have ever brought into His fold--makes you wonder if it isn't all a clever plan by Satan to damn souls to hell by driving people away from the church.
If I were Satan that's what I'd do--create a mass of really close minded, self-righteous, judgemental busybodies and send them out to irritate the hell out of everyone and make Christianity look foolish. All the while convinced that God and Jesus are going to somehow thank them for their efforts.
Did any of the Yahoo holy rollers ever stop and think of that?

Yes I do think they are, some can be pretty pesty but they mean well. Christianity is an offering .it is not to be forced. But usually it seems as if people are P.O.ed at the God of Christian faith for all the "evil" on earth and do not take into account that this is Satans authority on earth, he even (Satan) offered this "world" to Jesus.
.But somewheres in the new testament it is said for Christians to be like "sheep to the slaughter", and they would be persecuted for their faith and the news they tell of salvation. Think Satan would give up without a fight?

No more than anyone else. And those Christians who complain that their religion is being abused are sometimes the ones who go and invite it by abusing other religions! It's a vicious cycle...

I don't know or particularly care. When living in London my then pregnant wife received regular death threats against herself and our unborn child (when I was at Bible School in the morning or teaching computer science at a Christian school in the afternoon) and we later got fire-bombed - all for holding house-group meetings at our home and evangelising on the local streets and door to door.
Any abuse suffered on this site is not going to make any difference to either my beliefs or my sharing those beliefs.

Islam is the most abused religion in yahoo answers, just take a look on religion and spirituality chapter and you will abserve it yourself.
once again, it is not only abused but it is severely hated and unrespected. allthis for a simple reason Islam is the most misunderstood and misrepresented religion in addition to the fact that most people have a kind of negative prejeduces and stereotypes against it, so the resultis massive abuse...
