The chick is 2 weeks old and has been bred in an open aviary. The chick is not being neglected and is being well fed, but she is busy building a new nest.

Yes, this is completely normal.

I save and breed injured birds, mainly doves, and they often breed like rabbits during the Spring and summer months.

I wouldn't worry if I was you, I have a perfectly healthy 2 month young, and the breeding pair have a 2 week old just left the nest and are laying again. It is not a problem, leave them to it, it is how they would behave in the wild.

The young canary will leave the nest soon, not needing the parent's support anymore, and they will go about the next one.

Good luck to your canary family!

Hello! I do think this is pretty normal for canaries... I have a pair of finches with a few-day-old hatchling in their nest and from reading online, I understand that finches, canaries, etc are sort of like mating machines... if you don't remove the nesting material from the aviary they will keep laying eggs as often as possible. The problem with this is that is seriously weakens the female and she may eventually end up with health problems. Best of luck to you!
