I heard a possible explanation of the mess in yesterday's match between Portugal & Holland :- Holland are always helped by referees in major tournaments. Believing in they could do what they liked with impunity that referrees would overlook their fouls, they started on the Portuguese stars. Ronaldo out with an injury, then Figo etc etc. Two things came into play, though or Holland might even get away with another CHEAT : (1) Maniche was recently bought by the Russians (2) Maniche scored a cracker of a goal-Russian referee decides not to favour Holland aftr all. Without referee help, they are ordinary !! Remember that portuguese players are also aware of that favouritism and so they reacted. If someone taps your face in contempt several times what will you do HEADBUTT him ? "Provocation" is a concept taken very seriously in English Law. Deco's anger ? Same reason !! Who are these guys to always be favoured by referees ? Please let's have your dispassionate views. Thanks

THEY JUST GET ON WITH IT !!"How often have you seen Portuguese sides not "just get on with it" and fight BACK ??? Be a good embassador of our great country... That match was terrible down to 9 men on each team!! Robben's dive were something he learned from the pantomine and the rest were just a disgrace to football. i thinkwat caused it was first ronaldo's injury that affected alll of them bcoz he sure as hell brings flair and style! then figo's head butt stirred up the two teams. then finally when the dutch took the ball into play. deco angered lunged for the dutch player with the ball "lying on the floor with agony" portuguese players angered by his act then shneijder pushing petit and causing a near massive brawl! it was the most disgraceful match in the world cup!! yeah about the thing that the dutch are always favoured by the referees thats what the commentators also said on that live match. so they agree too! and they were two past players!
i need to add something else. for boulharz the player who sent ronaldo off with his atrocious dive!! I f***ing hate him!! thought they could win with ronaldo off?!!?!? well ha they didnt! ronaldo IS ONLY ONE of the talented players portugal have!! dont know why he didnt bring van nistelrooy on, he could've at least made some chances to save holland from their shame! not that they were gonna win anyway!!

Both of these teams should be held accountable for their actions on the pitch yestarday.
These players are not from a third world country just rising through the ranks of international football, they are highly paid individuals that set an example for millions of school children in their respective countries.
To have the kind of behaviour that was demonstrated on pitch yesterday is a travesty.
Both teams should have been told to go home.
This then would have mean England would at least get a chance of playing in the semi-finals, as they would have no opponent to face, but then we'd probably fluff it and get an own goal.

Very aggressive from all 3 sides (Portugal-Dutch-Russian ;))
Anyway, Portugal won and referee was right in most cases.
Its a pity that Portugal lost good players for the next match.
Let the best team win! (I know it will be Ukraine anyway)

i thought the referee had a poor game.
firstly football is a contact sport. there are gonna be times where u may accidently touch a player. there were 30 fouls and 20 were yellow card. some of the challenges wern't yellow cards. van bronkhorst should not have been sent off, nor should have deco.

The game was a total mess, thanks to the referee and to the Dutch players. When they found themselves loosing they lost all gentlemen conduct and started to act like *****. Where`s fair play?
They`re out and I`m glad they are!!
As for Ronaldo, the player who put him out, meant to do it. They thought that without him Portugal would be easier to defeat. Wrong!!!

I'm sure they played the Netherlands, but yeah the Dutch are known for that type of behavior, but I am glad they lost!!
As far as taking out Ronaldo, thats just poor sportsmanship.

the match was a wrestlin match more than a football match.
in other words, 20 min. were wasted overall fighting and recieving cards
it was a golden opp. missed by holland to utilize that time to take match in the extra time
these teams were 'diluting' the standard of football

Holland had one strategy in mind .... piss off the portuguese players .
It's well known that the portuguese lose ther temper very easely , and Holland tried to use that .
