I am worried about my husband he has not been well for a long time but the last few weeks he has been really bad. He has had a few blood tests which show he has a low blood count and low potassium , he is really tired and is asleep most of the day and night he may wake up now and then for a drink if i make him. The GP just keeps saying see you next week. I know he needs urgent attention he will not go to hospital. Any suggestions this is serious!

Call and talk to his GP or better yet to the Gp's nurse. Tell them he needs to be hospitalized until they can figure out what is going on. As a nurse I can tell you we have put patients in the hospital for a lot less than what your husband has going on. Keep calling....don't wait more than an hour for their call back. The more you aggravate them the quicker he will get a diagnosis....

Hope this helps!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry about the tough situation you're in. You guys seem pretty young with a 4 y/r.

Does you husband have any other medical or nonmedical problems (alcohol or over the counter pain relievers)

If your husband is fairly healthy, ANY degree of anemia is extremely abnormal. Further testing is necessary and given your husband's denial, hospitalization is very appropiate. He can get all the test and consults done fairly quickly. Go to his next appointment with him and explain your concerns to his doctor.

You may talk to your husband (depending on his temperament) and say "Do you love your child? Cause if you don't do something quick you may not be around to see him." I suspect (big assumption here) that you are the main bread winner in the household. He may be feeling like what is his role in this family. You have to make him realize that though he is not the main bread winner that HE IS PAPA TO HIS CHILD...thats his role and that's why its so important to get things taken of...for himself, for you, for his child, and for his family. Make him realize the seriousness of this problem and behavior. If there is no good explanation for his low blood count (assuming his hemogloblin and hematocrit) or low pottasium, the doctor must work it up and get an answer.

Is your husband an accurate historian, does he ask questions at the doctors, does he tell you everything? If not go with him to his next appointment. If his GP is not addressing your concern, then switch doctors.

Good luck.

I am not a doctor, but I believe you are justified to be concerned about your husband. Why does he have the low blood count? If this doctor won't tell you, find another! If you know why your husband has the blood picture he does, then you can go about seeing if it would respond to the right treatment!

Call your GP and insist and demand that he examine your husband and get
him admitted in the hospital. He needs blood tests and other tests and
immediate medical attention.

Telephone your GP and insist on a visit. Be PERSISTANT. This clearly concerns you, I believe I know what is wrong but your GP should diagnose. Your husband's blood needs checking.

That should do the job...

dunno m8. Im a playstation 2 doctor not a person doctor. If you had a sick ps2 I would probably be able to diagnose and cure its illness so it would become a happy healthy ps2 again. The older ones tend to need a laser transplant while the newer ones may just need its insides cleaning to cure the infection.

go to your GP and demand to them before next week and find out just what is wrong with him and don't leave until you are satisfied that is what we pay our taxes for.
