She probably thought that if she DIDN'T make that promise, then you would beat the living daylights out of her!!!
You should not have hit her and then asked her to lie about it.
I KNOW little sisters can be awful, but when you are babysitting, you are the "adult" in the house, and you have to act like one.
This is hard to do if you are too young... However, I see from your other questions that you have a 12 year old daughter?! How old ARE you? Old enough to know not to hit a 7 year old!

Your little sister is playing "the baby sister card." Right now this does not seem humorous to you, but someday you and your little sister will laugh about it.
I am the youngest of four. I played the "baby sister card" constantly. It is little wonder I was the least punished of all my siblings! I remember feeling guilty - sometimes. Then I would need my "attention fix".
She is doing this most likely either to get your attention, your parents, or both. At one point I realized how much power I had in this little game. I became a little terror! Thankfully, I left this scenario behind about the age of 7. She will outgrow it. In the meantime, try talking to your parents about this. One of them likely experienced this as a child. They have simply forgotten because, as parents, they are too close to the situation.
BTW: Try to find a new way of responding to her bad behaviors. You wouldn't hit a stranger, so no hitting your sister.

She is just 7 years old.Leave her, it is not a big deal.I also have a little sister and she does that from time to time but I don't pay attention to her.She acts like that because she wants a bigger attention than you from your parents and with lying she doesn't see the consequences. But she will understand this with time.

First of all, how old are you? Probably around 13. If you cant control that little $#!+, then tell you dad to find someone else to watch her. If she makes another alligation, of you hitting her, next time, I WILL HIT HER...HARD...HARD enough to leave bruises. That's just me.

you shouldn't hit her. it wasn't hard to you but it was hard to her because it also hurt her mentally. if you want a better way to deal with fits read a parenting book. hitting her won't make her listen, it'll just make her not like you.

Hitting her isn't the answer. I would never ask you to babysit.
Maybe you don't think you hit her hard, perhaps she feels differntly.
Perhaps she lies to get back at you for hitting her in the first place.

Sibling are always like that. Even after you move out and come back to visit. My youngest brother and sister and I always have quarrels. They don't like to listen to me and follow my rules when they visit my house. For some reason they don't picture me as an adult figure.

I don't know where I heard it, but I this depends on how old you are. I heard that sisters two years apart tend to argue more than others that are different amounts of years apart.

I would be mean to you too. You need to control your temper and if she behaves badly then threaten to tell your parents. They will believe you more than your little sister.
